The 3 N95 masks I ordered a month and a half ago showed up Thursday. I gave them to a friend who has to go to dialysis 4x a week and is in big trouble if she catches it (she’s also a juvenile diabetic).
I just dropped off the last of the 100 surgical masks I had, and some hand sanitizer at some friends - a couple who both work for nursing homes. We went for a socially distanced walk in their neighborhood, but still all I could think of was not wanting to be downwind the whole time. Had a nice silkwood shower when I got home.
I can’t imagine how stressed out they must be every day. They haven’t had a day off in weeks. I could see it in their faces. And they aren’t even the front lines.
Very questionable deaths stats is the impression I came to when I tried to do a little research into flu deaths stats. Computer models for flu deaths come up with a super wide range of total deaths. From what I understand is they just don’t know because there isn’t enough testing and few autopsies.
Interestingly in Canada when they thought were going to get a better number for the flu because testing was more widely done when H1N1 was doing its thing the number of total flu deaths they found was under 500 for the entire country for the year. Models estimate 2000-8000 deaths yearly deaths in Canada.
Wait, did Trump say his dumb quote of opening by Easter was aspirational or that opening by June 1st is aspirational??? If June 1st is aspirational according to even Trump then that must be strong evidence of some pretty bad shit contemplated ITT and WAAF.
I watched part of today’s press conference, and in the part I saw he was definitely talking about Easter having been aspirational, which only stood out because he used and pronounced it correctly. I don’t know if he also said that about June 1.
Holy fucking shit. This is one of the most surreal interviews I’ve ever read. I won’t excerpt it, you should read the entire infuriating thing. It’s law professor Richard Epstein arguing about COVID-19 modelling while having absolutely no clue what he’s talking about.
Why is that dumb ass law professor writing articles on the corona virus being overblown and climate change not being a threat? He doesn’t even attack the issues from a legal perspective but just as another libertarian think tank dullard.
No, I’m trained in all of these things. I’ve done a lot of work in these particular areas. And one of the things that is most annoying about this debate is you see all sorts of people putting up expertise on these subjects, but they won’t let anybody question their particular judgment. One of the things you get as a lawyer is a skill of cross-examination. I spent an enormous amount of time over my career teaching medical people about some of this stuff, and their great strengths are procedures and diagnoses in the cases. Their great weakness is understanding general-equilibrium theory.
Guy is a pompous jackass know nothing. He is the type of lawyer who has deluded himself into thinking because he can ask questions of experts he knows more than they do.
He claims he has forty years of relevant experience through AIDS then goes on to say AIDS got weakened as a virus and thus became less dangerous. Which is not true at all. Jesus the guy is the worst. No wonder he works for the Hoover Institute.
Yeah great news after the first 3 days of testing they found “only” 8 residents with coronavirus out of the 1000 they tested out of the 135000 that live there.
