This is a good point. Other countries did do this and we certainly would have too.

When this all kicked off I was praising the CDC as absolutely world class. Boy was I wrong. But I think in past iterations it was and they would have actively been there. We would have had boots on the ground in January.

Dallas has a drive thru testing facility but it is limited to 250 tests a day.

Will only take 11 years to test everyone in Dallas Proper.

It’s a small business with only about $15M in revenue, so, a lot.

I am very well compensated to wear many hats. We have job postings for carpenters, project managers, and I need a new assistant. With only a couple hundred rental units, all of which is scatter-site and generally well maintained, we sub maintenance out. For the washing machine thing, it normally takes all of 2 seconds to simply notify the appliance guy who has a master key, he knows to give tenants notice before he comes, and I just get the bill when he’s done.

Here’s the e-mail chain if you’re really that interested:

Not in my book… I feel for him, really I appreciate his dedication, but his lack of follow up does not constitute an emergency that I am willing to risk my family’s health for. Clothes can be washed by hand if necessary.

Perhaps he should have said something sometime in the past 5 or 6 months…

Sorry, not trying to be snarky, but we have all had plenty of time to plan for this, had he called a few weeks ago our answer would have been different.

Does the butcher not having clean clothes constitute an emergency, or no?

Your message wasn’t clear if you can do this one or not. He’s angry with
me and I don’t blame him.

We have been taking emergency calls this past week, but due to the latest
order from the Governor ordering Non-essential business to close, we will
not be taking any more service calls until it is safe to do so.

We hope to continue to be business partners when this is over.

Stay safe out there

I think the derail has run its course. I know the LOLINSO0s will never cease, and that’s fine. I’m a big boy and can handle it.

Please see the Moderators thread for my solution for this assclown.

That is pretty amazing and interesting.

Fish tanks in the office you say? At least your office will have plenty of corona medicine.

El Paso had an earthquake this morning. 2020 fully off the rails.

I’m filtering out the UK centric news for what I feel is a world population ITT, albeit weighted to US.

We don’t live near anyone. I can’t imagine being with my 90 year old father as they are moving within their AZ condo complex to a first floor unit this week.

He claims they are being careful. His gf is 88.

They go back to Michigan April 30. I’ve told them to stay out there until this is done. I have two brothers in MI. She has a large family with tons of little great grandkids. They are safer out there as just the two of them. I’m told they go down to the pool and each couple sits at their own table. Being around all that family is sure what to catch it.

He is OK with checking out. I tell him it could not kill him but put him in a nursing home for the rest of his life which is the LAST thing he wants.

Hang in there cuse.

Not directed at you since you’re just re-posting, but I sure find it maddening when I see these data points reported with zero context regarding the numbers from the last few days and whether the curve is being flattened.

There should be an accompanying chart or context every single time someone puts out a blurb about new daily cases/deaths.

ETA: After 5 mins or so of searching and piecing it together myself, I learned that the number of deaths is a decline for the second day in a row.

Sister-in-law’s mom was still going to the gym and interacting with the clients as recently as a week or two ago I believe. Community spread already confirmed in her area. She was reportedly sick at the time and I urged my parents to cancel their trip there. They basically ignored me saying something like “oh, we are watching out for [the virus]” like it’s a green poisonous gas cloud.

Now my brother, sister-in-law, their baby, both of her parents, her brother, and my mother are all coughing their heads off. Baby to ER for wheezing, dx upper respiratory infection. No fevers that I’m aware of. Her grandmother was hospitalized with viral pneumonia and actually pulled a COVID test. Results pending. Doctors told her they don’t think it’s COVID-19.
