Interesting. I always assumed unemployment during the great depression was like 99%. I remember reading stories of rich people having to sell their cars for like $1 or whatever.
That and lots of athletes are probably having a hard time training while they are social distancing.

I don’t understand where all the unemployment is coming from. Some retail (walmart etc) is hiring. Food and grocery delivery will explode. We have already been told about food delivery being done without restaurant fronts in empty malls - this just seems to be exasperating the trend of dying retail.
People who will be immediately unemployed over this are largely going to be low paid or nah? Just have the government put them on unemployment insurance for 18 months.
Beyond that, there should be huge investments in construction and factories and a push for the US to be more self sufficient - more hospitals, more research…
When it comes to the airlines who can’t go a single month of losing money without being bankrupt after 12 year bull market – just nationalize it and let the American tax holders become the owners.

There may never be a vaccine. 25% of common colds are Covids and a vaccine has never been developed.

That has more to do with the fact that there are like hundreds of common colds out there and they’re self-limiting. I don’t see any experts out there saying there won’t be a vaccine, although it will take time.

But a vaccine for a single member of the corona virus family that causes the common cold will make you nothing as it isn’t deadly and doesn’t stop all the other ones. A vaccine only targetting Covid-19 will make you famous and rich.
