SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

That happened with AIDS too. So many died of pneumonia and other illnesses the amount of AIDS deaths were not properly tracked forever.

Where are you getting that from?

There’s no way those sociopathic fucks in Congress give a damn about washing their hands. COVID-19 is gonna blitzkrieg through the legislature.

What Prana posted, but …9 out of 137 people who were hospitalized for COVID and survived had acute respiratory distress syndrome. That’s out of people who were in serious condition of who knows what age, but probably not the spring breakers who jman thinks will all have their lungs ravaged and years taken off their lives.

Well, I thought we were getting through to my parents. they are staying home, only going out for groceries and essentials…AND TO BUY A FUCKING HOUSE

They’ve been talking about selling our childhood house for years and years, and never got around to it…until the literal worst possible time in modern history. So now they have to get rid of 3500 sq ft of stuff and downsize to 1800 sq ft, move across town, and unpack, and settle in…all without us around to help because they can’t be convinced to move out west where all 3 of their children live. It’s not like we can fly out to help them.

I’m not sure I’ve ever been so pissed at my parents, and that includes my time as a shit eating teenager.

Yeah I found parents often do crazy stuff without consulting their adult children who could have helped them out.

If they actually got that house sold they got rid of it at the top. Seriously.

It’s going to be a long time before we have accurate statistics on all this, but yeah I have to expect the youngsters are not in great danger of getting pulmonary fibrosis. I mean 9 out of 137 is not that high considering these are the people sick enough to need hospitalization.

I should point out that permanent lung scarring is also a thing that happens with severe influenza cases.

I’m happy with this but only allegedly

true, but it was completely paid off. Fortunately, my parents are doing ok financially, but their health is going downhill in general, and we’ve been fighting with them for 5 years now to move out closer to us. They claim they can’t afford CA, but my Dad’s pension and my mom’s part time work brings in almost what my husband and I make, and we’re doing ok.

We just want them closer so that when they inevitably need more care, we can be around to do it.

I’ve seen numerous articles on it. Basically the alveoli sacs in the lungs get damaged and it takes a long time for them to repair even if you recover.

I have seen a lot of stories of people lashing out at grocery store employees. Those people need to knock it off. There is no excuse.

Yes it became seasonal after that. Lost it’s morbidity and there was herd immunity.

Yeah. France has half the cases of America but more deaths? Can’t be right.

Some more detail on NYC as of late yesterday afternoon

Have you tried taking full breaths? If so, can you hear any wheezing? No coughs or throat clearing? Any fatigue or pain/aches?

Probably worth getting checked out even if it’s nothing.

Surprised with NYC having so few old people testing positive. Are they boomers who think that this is bullshit? Or have they just been really good at not going outside?

Hopefully this isn’t bullshit.

As I write this, more than 500,000 respirators are on the way from our South Dakota plant to two of the more critically impacted areas, New York and Seattle, with arrivals expected starting tomorrow. We are also ready to expedite additional shipments across the country.
