SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

Surf cam from my local beach in Del Mar

My friend who lives there sent me several creep shots of Carson Palmer (ex USC QB w/ 10 year NFL career) on the beach with his family, and I’m horrified like whoa celebrities who are famous enough to get noticed you need to stay the hell inside. Tom Hanks one of the most famous celebrities in the world got it, and it’s working it’s way down the chain to Idiris Elba and Kevin Durant and soon coming to retired nfl players.

My roomate is in day 5 of her beach vacation and only comes home to shower and then heads back to her boyfriends apartment within walking distance of the beach. Earlier she said they were shutting down the beaches and I said good there’s too many people there and she changed the subject and left the room haha

That. The good news is half the people on my normal hike are Asian and half of them (the women) pretty much always have their mouth covered anyway. They don’t let one drop of sunlight hit their face.

Maybe if all the trails required bandanas or masks or something. That could be a compromise.

New York Presbyterian performed more than 500 tests for the novel coronavirus Saturday, and 50% came out positive.

“That’s very high,” Chief Operating Officer Dr. Laura L. Forese said in a leadership briefing Sunday.

Not enough youdontsay.jpg’s in the world.

Yeah - but everyone is freaking out about 6’ right now. And most trails have spots where you almost have to brush up against each other to pass. It’s kind of hard to preach 6’ of space everywhere, but then say trails are an exception.

This is going to be a catastrophe in NY which probably could have been averted if they had the same testing capacity they have now even two weeks ago.

I get that, but you can still pass at a broader spot and it’s still like one second in the 6’ zone. I went walking yesterday with my daughter at Madrona Marsh. The trails are wide. People gave each other a berth everywhere, every time anyone passed. I doubt we were ever within 4’ of anyone and almost always like 50’ from the nearest person. And it was windy. Not terribly crowded, but people were out.

I was out walking in the park for an hour and a half today. Slightly more people than usual, but it’s still trivial to keep a good distance from everyone.

There are a couple of good meals in there somewhere but it is sorely lacking. My theory is that since they never controlled the spice trade, they didn’t get any real taste to add to their own cuisine.

This talk of food makes me hungry for takeout.

Dallas County going to shelter in place.

Change of plan today. We were going to have the usual run in the park, but being a sunny Sunday it was probably rammed full of idiots so we took to the local roads instead and only saw about 4 people.

All of Louisiana is too starting tomorrow at 5pm. New Orleans largely has been there already.

I love spicy food but a lot of the better European food manages very well without it.

I think hundreds of years ago most European food was reputedly as bad as Eastern European or English, apart from Italy. Then the Medicis moved to France and Catherine took dozens and dozens of chefs with her, and elevated the cuisine there which unfortunately didn’t reach these shores.

My wife mad that her parents— both over 70 — are at a Mah Jong game in Dallas right now.

Interesting, this is saying that coronavirus is not changing term life insurance? There isn’t a delay for dying of flu like illness?

That says they they’ll take your money, not that they’ll pay out when you drop dead of corona 5 days after your coverage starts

Yeah those aren’t my normal mountain trails but they could work, unless half of LA flocks there because it’s the only thing left.

Trails and beaches - once you close one or two of them - the others will just get more crowded.

Sorry, we are insolvent now after funneling everything of value off to our vulture capitalists. Who could have seen this coming?

I have a dry cough now. I just hope I do not have this thing and I hope you all do not get this thing.

Keeeeeeeeeeeeed!

Self-isolate and take care of yourself.

Hopefully we will have that antibody test available so we can ID who is immune. Then you can come save all of us.
