The CDC is either lying to the public or to healthcare workers. They tell the public surgical/simple masks don’t help healthy people. They also tell hospitals surgical masks will protect workers from Coronavirus as long as the patient isn’t on a ventilator or other aerosol generating procedure. I’m hoping they are lying to the public to keep people from hoarding masks.
Worldometer got hacked a while back - someone shot the Vatican up to some ridiculous #. They seem to have temporarily had NY’s new cases for 3/22 about 2.5x too high but have fixed it now.
That seems by far the most likely. I’ve been communicating with a doctor who works at Chidren’s Mercy in NYC. She posts public info. on FB and twitter, but in a private message basically confirmed my theory that we can’t tell everyone to get masks right now because of the healthcare workers.
If Biden starts bashing Trump right now it gives the Derposphere a gigantic distraction they can use to get focus off of Trump. I have no idea how these strategy things work at the highest levels - but I could certainly see the argument that Biden mostly laying low and let Trump keep hanging himself (among non-cult members) is the best plan.

EU to stockpile masks and ventilators for member states
The EU has decided to create a stockpile of medical equipment such as masks and ventilators to help those member countries who are struggling to secure supplies in the battle against coronavirus.
The European Commission said it would finance 90% of the stockpile, which will distributed to countries that need most.
The announcement comes amid criticism that the EU is not doing enough to support the many states dealing with a rising death toll from Covid-19.
In addition, the EU continues to help members bring back their citizens who are stranded abroad because of the outbreak. Up to 75% of the cost of repatriation is covered by the EU, providing the flight repatriates citizens of more than one member state.
