Testing people who aren’t seriously ill.
Here’s something else to think about - if these findings that you’re most contagious before even getting symptoms - how are you going to help spreading it? Even if you don’t have symptoms you should probably be wearing a mask around them.
strawman. i’m talking about this virus that is loose in our population. how about after the US gets its shit together wrt testing? how about just waiting one or two weeks until symptoms start showing up more and we know more about the scope?
If you yourself are at high risk of being infected then stay the eff home. Please.
Ok it was pretty busy, almost everything was picked over already and they barely restocked stuff from last night but I was able to get milk, eggs, and bread. I’m assuming there was none of those things by the time I left the store, and basically everything else even remotely edible will be completely picked over by the end of the day.
I gotta say everyone has got to get over all the little daily annoyances when you’re out in public. Like when someone’s cart is in their way you do like an eye roll or a rude excuse me, you’re gonna have a bad time if you keep acting like because those incidents are about to go through the roof. I think a lot of people are about to find out the entire fucking world doesn’t revolve around them. Like please just drive safe and don’t get into road rage incidents right now because some people are about to go crazy, just let all that shit go.
So again, assuming this thing where asymptomatic people are actually the most contagious is true - what if we all just wore masks? Doesn’t have to be N95, just the cheapy surgical ones. Obviously it’s not going to stop everything from getting out - but if it catches the droplets that could make a big difference.
And that’s how the outbreak movie ends - with Morgan Freeman narrating “In the end, all everyone needed to do was wear a cheap 1¢ mask for a few months.”
@Ikioi - are a lot of people wearing masks in Japan right now?
Tennis to me is a good activity. Maintain distance and don’t touch your face.
I plan to hit with a guy who is staying in and lives alone.
You may want to avoid community balls. Have them hit with you from your own ball stash and then quarantine those balls for a couple of days before using again.
Do you have a plan in place to keep up the exercise once we’re on lockdown? For now, avoiding the gym and jogging outside or something might be the move.
It’s kind of a catch-22. The exercise will help the immune system, but going to a public gym takes on a much higher risk of exposure to the virus. Exercising outside seems like the plan. @simplicitus aren’t you in like Manhattan Beach or Huntington Beach or somewhere in that area? Why not walk/jog along the beach at night if nobody is out? Has to be way safer. Then just make sure not to touch your face, wipe down your shoes when you get back, take those proper precautions.
Not for free. I rented it on Amazon Prime, like $3.99 or something. Just remember as you’re watching, the mortality rate in the movie is lower than what we’re dealing with. The R0 is similar. Another key distinction that should be comforting is in the movie, the disease isn’t targeted at an age group so everyone is in full panic.
FWIW it’s relatively safe to bench without a rack if you know what you’re doing and keep the weight low. Take no chances pushing out a last set, if you get stuck, drop it to your chest, roll it down to your hips, get it off of you that way. Definitely a high risk of damaging stuff, though, when you take it to the floor if you go sideways. Best is to keep rolling it down your legs and try to get up into a clean and jerk type position.
That said, it’s still risky to an extent and with ERs jam packed, maybe it’s not the time to take that risk. But obviously there’s an amount of weight you can safely move. If your max is 200 lbs and you typically do like 150lbs for reps, you can safely do like 80 lbs for the same number of reps just to get some movement and get the heart pumping.
You can also buy some half racks or spotting arms for reasonable prices, or try to buy sawhorses and get them shipped, they’ll make decent spotting arms in a pinch. You can get them for like $30-50 I think.
221 new cases just in New York? This is fine
Yeah I’m sure I could do the stuff that it takes to give those guys a workout.
Fucking hell why is the first goddamn question to Cuomo about gyms? What the fuck is happening?
He just said we are totally fucked with regards to hospital beds and THATS the first fucking question? What the fuck, did you gymbros poison the fucking water so all we can do is talk about the gym?
When I drove through FL and back this weekend, there was ALOT of military movement on I-75. Like scary amounts.
I assume you mean *** not doing anything ***
Could be good practice for when the robots take over.
I’m in rehab for my hammy too. Going as long as they are open for business.
They do a very good job of wiping down the tables and giving you fresh towels for your face. The therapist only works the back of my legs.
I don’t have to touch any equipment.
Side note- can anyone recommend a recumbent exercise bike that’s decent, easy to move around and not too spendy (<500?). Feel free to PM or link another thread to avoid a derail. I’m not allowed to run for another month so I’d like to get some cardio somehow.
Thanks @anon38180840 . Personally I avoid barbell benchpress without safeties to catch a missed rep. At home I do floor presses instead of benching. Because I’m small I can set down the bar and it rests over my chest. I do some lighter dumbbell bench pressing as well because on a missed rep I could drop the weights if needed.
Thanks y’all RIP gainz
I appreciate Cuomo essentially just laying it out straight. “We REALLY need to do this shit, but we need guidance from the Feds. Get on it you fuckers.”
I wondered how they were going to enforce these shutdowns as well. As far as muckleshoot and other tribal casinos, I don’t think the state can do anything if they choose to stay open.
