SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

Ohio has only tested THREE HUNDRED people?! What the fuck?

Why the hell is CALIGOAT failing so hard in testing? Surely they have the most resources…

Not sure. According to that site, California has tested 11,722 people, which works out to 0.3 per thousand, placing them squarely in the middle of states on a per capita basis. They are 3rd in terms of total tests, but still well behind WA and NY.

Got some states doing the right thing in America. I’m surprised at low the percentage of positive tests is in the top 10 tests per capita. Tests per capita in the CR wouldn’t rank in the top 5 among US states (6th to be exact) and there’s a 6.7% positive rate here.

I’d feel good living in a few states in America. Not so good in most of the country though.

My s-in-law got a bad infection from the intubation machine she was on after a terrible car accident. That happening from intubation in particular is pretty common.

My sliver of hope for the day comes from the news that one of my wife’s co-workers was really really sick about six weeks ago. Was out for weeks, I believe had to get oxygen at a hospital. Immediately prior to and after this my wife had lunch with her every day. So I’m going to hope that my wife was exposed already, and maybe we all were.

The biggest failures imo have been masks and tests. It would have been so easy and helpful and economically productive to put huge immediate resources into that and making new ventilators or whatever hospitals need. Within a couple weeks we should have been able to make and distribute masks to everyone in the country I would think. Easier than mass producing hospitals like China did.

Seems pretty simple Joe

  1. Setup podium
  2. Pick a time of day
  3. Call the TV news people
  4. Talk and take questions
  5. Profit

More people have now died in Iran’s Fars province from alcohol poisoning while trying to protect themselves from the coronavirus than from the disease itself, Iranian media report.

Mohammad Javad Moradian, the director of the province’s emergency services centre, told Isna news agency that Covid-19 had killed 13 people in Fars, while 66 have died after drinking industrial-strength alcohol.

A persistent rumour in Iran claims that drinking alcohol helps protect individuals from contracting the virus.

Iran has now confirmed 20,610 cases and 1,556 deaths from the disease.

And he doesn’t even need to do 1 or 3.

He can setup wherever. Once he picks a time of day, the TV news people will be contacting him.

I put it an order for a bunch of canned goods like two weeks ago, they didn’t show up on the expected delivery date and now amazon canceled the whole order on me saying they were unable to deliver, get fucked Bezos

No. A boss is not a government. Try quitting your government or starting up your own country.

Another day in the office for a cpa from Michigan

I did get my laptop set up to work remotely but only half the staff has functioning laptops.

At the staff meeting yesterday the boss said if the government closes everything here in MI for a few weeks we will “have to make up those hours in the summer. I don’t care if you have to work Saturday and Sunday in the summers to make those hours up”

It was like the opposite of a pep talk

I feel -0- remorse for showing up and just trying to protect myself by not touching files dropped off by clients or touching anything.

I plan on using sick time starting Monday, waiting for governor to close everything down.

Now start your own country.

Also employers should not be trusted either and certainly not at a large scale. Publicly traded companies absolutely should not be trusted.

It is very hard to explain risk to a non technical.

I think we’ve agreed to stay out of the grocery store unless it’s an urgent necessity. Buy online or instacart.

But then she feels we shouldn’t walk on our local trail (which is busy these days). I don’t think that risk is significant- outdoor moving air no problem to maintain distance. May walk past people in the 6’ zone but it’s very brief. In a store hard to maintain 6’ and likely to get stuck next to people for 10s of seconds if not a couple of minutes.

We have a gift card to a nice steak place (flemings) that is offering 40% off. Plan is to order take out. Now she is worried about that.

I’m ok with picking up w gloves and discarding all the packing ASAP.

How goes the decision making in your households?

How is MA doing? Shocked they are not at the front of the states responses.

Even more shocked that the NH response so far has been sort of ok. Although they kept ski areas open longer than they should have, because of course the Sununu family owns resorts.

Daily pressers by Biden would be such an awful idea for him. Jesus. Trump should help Joe set it up.
