Damn, that’s crazy. The last time I went shopping everything was in stock except for TP and hand sanitizer. We can probably go for three more weeks before we need to shop, but now I’m thinking I might need to take periodic small trips and get what I can, when I can.
this is the checkout line. and isn’t it the directive of the CDC that people figure this out? what’s the point of closing all businesses except grocery stores so we can social distance, but when we go to the grocery store we are breathing in each other’s faces? less people inside would work.
Yesterday at Sam’s club they had limits on a huge percentage of items in the store and they were enforcing with employees walking around and via the register. This included a 90 minute line to get in.
It is all so crazy.
It’s going to be the one thing we’re allowed to do but its super risky. After a while we’re going to wonder why we can’t do other things that appear less risky.
so I totally got long term exposure to a very likely covid case today. Long story and I’d have to give too many details of the case to talk about on a public forum, but we didn’t have protection because this patient very likely caught covid in the hospital.
I’m thinking my local mom and pop convenience store is a safer play. Wonder if there’s a limit on skittles?
yea Shelved seemed pretty stocked when I went to the grocery store on Monday and I have food to last awhile. However I think I have enough food that I will run out exactly when studies have predicted this to peak…which may not be optimal
Holy shit. I figured the panic shopping would calm down by now. Are people trying to stock up for like 12 months?
I went to Smart and Final yesterday. They let people in one at a time as someone else left. There were very low limits on things. 1 unit of toilet paper. 2 cans of vegetables max. 2 bread items. I wasn’t hoarding, but ran up against those limits.
I think Texas has been a little bit behind other places.
The panic buying is ridiculous. But thinks like tp are showing up more finally so I think they might slowly be catching up.
The more I dig in the worse I think this is going to be. Every true expert I listen to is saying the best case scenario is way worse than what’s being publicly acknowledged. Hospitals and morgues are going to be overrun in less than a week. The peak isn’t going to happen until 2 weeks after that. We’re looking at high hundreds of thousands of deaths at the absolute minimum.
Seriously? The guy said getting it in the store made it less likely the game would be damaged? The download gets damaged? What planet is he on?
I keep hoping every day I will see a sign that we have completely overreacted. Instead every day all the numbers just prove we continue on the direct path to massive disaster.
I went yesterday to the supermarket for cat food, beans and a few other things (hopefully the last grocery trip for awhile).
No canned beans at all in the bean section, but the international aisle had a bunch of Goya stuff that I got a shitload of.
Not much in the way of social distancing. I could tell some people were taking this seriously, but the vast majority were not.
We are very fucked.
Yeah it’s this, which is why I’ve always been on Team Yeah Sure It’s Fearmongering But It’s Necessary To Help The Vulnerable People Because People Won’t Rationally Do So Of Their Own Volition. The team name might need workshopping to be more succinct.
coronavirus shrinks your penis by one half = dudes staying inside as long as needed
I made peace with this weeks ago. The hard part is my wife and daughter think I’m fucking nuts. I’ve also accepted that. We reap what we sow, and we are going to harvest the bounty of 40 years of ignorance and stupidity. I’m also drunk and stupid.
Young ones are getting their asses kicked by this thing too. They aren’t dying much, but very few people walk away from 10+ days paralyzed, sedated, and on a ventilator unscathed. At a minimum these guys are going to spend a long ass time rehabilitating their strength, and who knows how much long term damage is being done to their lungs.

Dennis Johnson said he was excited for “Animal Crossing,” as well as the launch of “Doom: Eternal.” Getting them in-store rather than downloading them online made it less likely the games would be damaged. “The data could get corrupted in a download. This way, I know I’ve got the game. I’m going to be home for a while,” said Johnson.
Um. What?
Edit: Ponied by Marksman.
I keep imagining all the less dangerous endemic viruses being pissed that Covid is being a dick and ruining it for everybody.
