SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

I love cooking and have been doing it a lot. Just need a break. This will be the first meal I haven’t cooked in a week.

lol - my pest control company just left a message to say they are coming for my quarterly treatment next Friday. I’m thinking I’ll give them a call on Monday and say no thanks.

Ordered pizza and wings. Going to immediately remove from box and broil the shit out of it. Then enjoy with several local beers.

If your in the UK I’ll deliver no problemo, and I’ll sanitize it clean out the box.

Mine just doing the outside right now per a voicemail I got. But I basically always have them just do the outside and we don’t have pests inside so seems to work. Just tell them outside only when they come.

Jesus.
New Jersey population 8.8 million = 1026 TOTAL tests.
Irish Republic pop 4.9 million = I think we’re up to 15000 tests per DAY (or will be in next day or two).

Gotta say, I’m actually way more open to the idea of getting food prepared by other people than I have been after the Kenji article. Might have to peek at what’s still doing take out.

Getting delivery or takeout daily. The really good article @champ posted says there is good science behind allowing takeout because COVID can’t be transmitted through food. To the point that you’re probably fine if a carrier sneezed in your food. The article didn’t say exactly why, but I suppose the virus prefers to attack mucus membranes in your lungs rather than your esophagus or stomach.

Edit: Actually, the article says that’s exactly why.

There’s a ton of really great info in here and this article should be read by everybody.

15k/day?! Wow.

CR more than double the population and only up to 2k+/day now

It does seem very high but that was the expectation two days ago from minister for health.

I’ve no idea if it’s all just bs or not but so far the Irish authorities seem to be handling this very calmly and competently.

Wait. So if a microscopic bit of virus is on my finger and I try to pick a piece of celery out of my tooth I can get the virus. But if a blob of coronaspit is on my sticky bun I should be fine?

I looked at that graph and thought what Sweden was doing. Maybe other countries should start doing that.

As of 11 March, the national testing strategy shifted to only elderly, severely ill, and health care staff.
Well, maybe not…

The article also says the touching your face transmission is less likely to get you infected than breathing in aerosolized droplets, though it still recommends hand washing and disinfecting surfaces.

Probably still high risk for most people who won’t be anywhere near as careful with the packaging as they need to be.
