We have a paternalist government that isn’t of the people (being almost unanimously very expensively educated and from posh families), doesn’t understand the people and holds most of them in contempt (for not being privileged enough).
So when Johnson issued his advice for people to stay out of pubs/bars/restaurants he was simply doing what he was brought up to do, exercising noblesse oblige, and assumed all his plebeian citizens, us, would look up to him in admiration and obey.
That’s how fucked this country is.
Even his dad refused to obey.
I wonder if this is bringing back any memories for old Brits who still remember the Blitz. Have you seen any articles to that effect?
My theory is that Americans are exceptionally soft because we haven’t had a war brought to us in 170 years.

Walgreens is offering free deliveries now, I’m not sure how that works for meds though. Worst case scenario I’d use the drive through and all the precautions you’re planning.

It’s not. We’ve only been testing the sickest so you’re going to get a disproportionate amount of deaths. The large scale testing countries are the best to ballpark the death rate.

I believe this is where Ohio #1 is at right now.
I don’t believe any stats are meaningful for USA right now ICU beds and ventilators. Everything else is a function of testing which is still ramping up in blue states and impossible to get in red states.

To be fair China discovered their second corona virus case in a dog today.
Person in my relatively small office building confirmed to have it. One elevator. Have been remote starting Fri of last week. And now we wait, I guess.

A construction company I am working with (not a sub of theirs, contract is with another company) has gone back and said now they will continue working starting Monday. Not sure if that’ll be allowed. Not sure what I’ll do when they are ready. (If I did work there, I’m almost always alone on the roof and as isolated as most of you are at home) Not sure if I’ll be able to get the equipment anyway.
But they do big projects that have tons of people working together.

My neighbours are native Londoners in their mid 80s, and don’t take much of this as seriously as they probably should (though he was at least wearing gloves for the first time when I saw him in the street outside yesterday). I’ve offered to get shopping for them from the supermarket (they don’t drive) and he’s politely but firmly turned me down lol. We like them very much and have them round for tea and cake. 
but have suspended that for obvious reasons.
I’ve posted before itt about Americans being softies because they haven’t had a war or bombing campaign on on their own soil in living memory.

Could be that closed cases is really inaccurate because recoveries aren’t tracked. That’s what happens over here in the Netherlands anyways.
