SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

I missed the first 10 min. Cliffs on comments?

I mean the opening of his campaign. Today though they did quickly feature his “unprecedented” efforts to shut down air travel from China…etc.

Don’t have the links right now but you can mess around on google and find several sources for data broken down by region in Italy. The north is just hitting the hospital overwhelmed stage, but cases in southern Italy are just ramping up. They are in for a long haul as far as the country as a whole goes.

I think your plan is more than reasonable. You’re not going to get risk down to exactly zero, and further actions your part are at best going to change chance of catching it by small fractions of a percent.

As this goes on, reporters are going to lose friends, family, and colleagues. They’re not as stupid as Trump voters. They are going to blame Trump—they should blame Trump—and their questions are going to become more pointed. If Trump thought the media was biased against him before, he’s not going to enjoy the next few months. We’re going to see more reporters who are strongly disinclined to let him get away with anything.

A lot of it is hubris, but some of it is careerism. Many people have learned the game of accruing important sounding job titles as a way to keep moving up in institutions. For someone that is tuned into that kind of career climbing, titles with White House on them must seem irresistible. That’s the kind of shit that gets you cushy Board positions.

Holy fuck all he cares about is blame. Nothing more. He needs to be removed.

Oh great we’ve reached the “Trump just completely lies and makes shit up without any pushback” part of the proceedings.

There should be public executions when this is all over.

I’m out in the suburbs and almost never would run into people when I was out walking my dog. I’m changing the time I take my dog for a walk to later in the evenings. I’m just running into far to many people also out walking.

In unrelated news, Bill James going full Sklansky:

When I go out to walk I step completely off the path any time people pass, and they STILL JUST KEEP WALKING DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE PATH.

It was everywhere like a week ago.

You’re forgetting the most likely scenario: 3. Things will get so catastrophically bad that they postpone the elections. I recognize that this is not the same scale, but NY has it’s village elections right now in March. Cuomo issued an executive order cancelling them and keeping current village officials (mayors, etc), in their offices indefinitely until elections can be rescheduled.

I don’t know and don’t think anyone does, but I like microbet’s take, which is that if it’s not safe to do these things then really huge numbers of people have already been infected and therefore the mortality rate is an awful lot lower than we think and there’s much less to worry about than we thought.

I’ve just been out for a brisk walk and saw about 4 other people, taking care to keep a distance between us. YMMV.

My brother works for Delta. He’s worked for them a long time, going back to when he was at Northwest.

He just moved from Atlanta to Madison, WI a couple weeks ago to take a new position. GREAT timing. He just told me that while he loves the new job, it’s been really shitty there lately, as we might expect.

He’s kind of a hero, though. They are looking for people to take unpaid leave and he volunteered. He figured he’s single, no kids, has saved enough money that he can handle it. It’s 30 days unpaid right now, but who knows how much longer it will go.

Republican’s think being poor is the fault of the poor person, so ipso facto, if you get laid off it’s your fault.

I posted before, but my daughter and her BF were very sick. High fever. She had breathing trouble that sent us to the ER. Antibiotics didn’t work, she was tested and negative for flu and strep. This was in late Jan and early Feb.
