It’s a phase out effect (not cliff). Still though, I don’t understand the 2018 thing. Lots of people that maybe made good money in 2018, but got laid off this week.
It seems like the easy answer is to just send a check to everyone and then true it up when people file their 2020 taxes. Similar to how they do the ACA subsidies.
Sounds vital. Like a month without hydraulic fluid and people will be missing food.

Thanks @suzzer99. One thing that I find perplexing about this kind of data is I don’t instinctively know if we’re talking about apples v applies or apples v oranges. So this town of 3,000 people tested everyone, found 60, and locked down the 60. But I’m in Toronto, so literally 1,000 x bigger. And, up until last week, daily 100,000+ go through our large international airport. And many of those people head straight to downtown - to attend business meetings, ride the subway, go to restaurant, attend cultural events.
So, even if Toronto was like Vo, Italy on March 6, that would still have meant I guess 60,000 Toronto residents infected including many asymptomatic. And, although our response has been pretty good, we still had restaurants and businesses open through last weekend, with normal volumes on all our commuter trains. Theoretically, that could mean we have an absolute monumental number of people here that are infected at this point but not exhibiting symptoms.
Fauci has clearly been instructed to jump on the foreign immigrant health-threat angle.

Pence is a terrible person and lies out his ass constantly, but he SO much better at speaking than Trump. He should be the one up there every day.
The only thing a symbolic leader like Trump could do to add value would be to offer some reassurances that the government will protect people, and then introduce experts (public health and economic) to provide the techobabble necessary to make people think that they have a sophisticated, executable plan. Of course Trump is pathologically incapable of this, he can only think of himself and how to deflect blame to others and absorb credit that others deserve. So what we get is incoherent ramblings.

The upper limit on unemployment in California is 450 a week (before taxes) somebody who is making 75K a year sees a 66% reduction in pay through unemployment. Thats unsustainable.
