SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

TIL learned that if you eat a meal with someone sitting across from you, you’re also ingesting scores of tiny mucus particles that waft out of their throat and settle onto your food.

Not sure dining out will ever be the same again.

Ugh; I read that story and was laughing about the Fast and Furious binge since I just rewatched 7&8 the last 2 nights and Hobbes & Shaw tonight for the first time.

But then it got dark real fast. Now I gotta worry about my wife and also I’m hoping I don’t wake up in the morning with my 24-hour old dry cough turning into something worse. I have had bad pneumonia a few times in recent years. Though part of me hopes this is it now while hospitals have bandwidth. Both our kids had 103+ fevers a week and a half ago so hopefully that was it for them as well so they’d be in the clear now.

Dammit I shouldn’t have posted that.

On a lighter note - PBS is showing the American Experience on the Spanish Flu. Should be interesting.

Nah it’s fine. I’m an optimist and I’ve already read plenty on this for 2 months now.

Heck yeah. Or if you have to make a trip to a Walmart for groceries you could get it there.

That’s actually plausible. She’s so rich that a million bought or a million sold, who cares.

Burr is worth like 2 million bucks or something and transacted a similar amount to Loeffler. That wasn’t done without him knowing exactly what he was doing. He’s done.

And her advisors just happened to dump at this time?

I mean sure if she has records that transactions for these amounts are normal. Should be real easy to show investigators.

Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed she bought Citrix, they benefit from the shift to people working from home. But just another friendly coincidence, right up there with the severe lack of test kits.

I could believe she didn’t make the investment decisions, no way in hell she didn’t tell the guy who does, “Do whatever you would do if we were going the same way as China and Italy.”

I’m not sure what the critique is here exactly. Why would he fail them?

Ok, I can’t be the only one who read that and got sent into a psychosomatic coughing fit, right?

Yeah but plumbers and grocers aren’t trying to cut themselves a slice of the devil’s pie.

I’m willing to give Loeffler more benefit of the doubt, just because she is a very junior Senator who is not on any relevant committees. It’s plausible that these were normal transactions. Are the third-party advisors that she mentioned willing to testify under penalty of perjury that it was their idea?

Burr is the chairman of the Intelligence Committee, of which Dianne Feinstein is also a member. Jim Inhofe is an ex officio member as chairman of the Armed Services Committee. Ron Johnson chairs Homeland Security. I am not inclined to give any of them the benefit of the doubt and wish to place the burden on them to prove these were not corrupt actions.

If I were a journalist, I would start combing through the disclosure forms of these four and start looking for correlations of when they may have sold, then see if anything interesting was happening in the world around that time, especially if there was an intelligence briefing about a topic relevant to their transactions.

I dunno. I’m trying to imagine what 50%+ unemployment looks like in this country.

Maybe if the fed government actually comes through and gives money to people till this is over we will be ok. But if the entire country shuts down for months, how many people can really work from home? How many people does WFH + essential life services cover? 30% MAYBE?

Then again China did this and they seem to be doing well, but who I’m in the camp we can’t really believe their telling us the truth.

I guess mass unemployment is still better than italy.

shut the fuck up chris

known bernie/trump supporter mrwookie said something about feinstein in this forum of course you’re not up his ass

China, where the deadly pathogen first emerged in December, recommended the decades-old malaria drug chloroquine to treat infected patients in guidelines issued in February after seeing encouraging results in clinical trials. But within days, it cautioned doctors and health officials about the drug’s lethal side effects and rolled back its usage.

So it seems that trump is continuing to say anything to try and lift the stockmarket with actual initiatives to help people unimportant to him,
