SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

But, no they don’t. Worker safety laws are a trillion miles away from this.

One drug currently available in the US is showing a lot of promise, but apparently doctors are self-prescribing it and hoarding it.

My dry cleaner said she’s considered essential.

I wonder if hardware stores are open? I was thinking about painting my place. Went into my local hardware store which is expensive but I try to support them. Heard the guy in the back by the paint coughing. Did a 180 and got out of there.

I’m glad I got new running boards on my car (shredded one of them in a parking lot). I’m not sure if 4-wheel auto parts is considered essential.

What are you doing, man? Stay inside.

The odds of catching it in a brief encounter in a store are pretty low. But even if the paint guy wasn’t coughing I was reluctant to hang out in there for very long figuring it out.

I gotta do something productive to keep from losing my mind. Can’t go hiking this weekend.

I decided to stay. It’s not empty jobsite. It’s a large house (like 5000sf) out where lots are very large and I’d be outside the house or in the attic in the garage away from anyone. But…I will be on the roof and visibly working…and no matter what I’m sure I won’t be able to get the inspection until this is over anyway. I do have another payment due at completion of work but before inspection, but it’s not really accomplishing much as far as the customer is concerned if I do that.

(And by stay home, I mean stay at my Mother’s house. It’s probably good for her, because when I go to work there’s someone else who comes in and she also works at a rehab place and probably comes into contact with a lot more people than I do - or even if not, she comes into contact with different people, so it adds to the chances my mom gets it.)

I don’t know what to say, man. I feel for you. I hope she pulls through and hopefully she’s ahead of the rush and gets great treatment.

Thanks everyone. CT is done and they said 30 mins for results so at least they are moving somewhat quickly.

I used to watch Royal Pains , they just need to find one of those concierge doctors to cure their corona.

Got a worried message from a friend and ended up calling him for a chat.

He’s working in a DC hospital as an orderly on a cancer hospice ward.

Cliffs

  • despite suspected cases that have been through the ward. They can’t get tested
  • they aren’t allowed to wear masks, as they are saving them for the patients
  • he thinks they are about a week away from closing the ward and converting it to Covid patients.
  • he’s forecasting patients dying in hallways.

He lives with his parents who are in their 60s and he’s shit scared for them and himself and his patients. He is thinking of quitting but needs the job and the insurance.

It’s bad.

He should try to find a fellow employee who he can stay with, someone who understands they are all going to get it.

I’m not gonna lie I really just thought somehow it wouldn’t get so bad even as I read this thread everyday but I’m legit freaked out the last few days.

Good advice. Will ask. I suggested he move out. But will be more specific. I think he’s gonna move to the basement.

Update on situation in Africa.

That’s the problem, when hospitals are overrun and the cases requiring critical care don’t get it, they’re almost all going to die.

This is why I’m so terrified for my family this weekend. I have to go see my Dad, he has to go into the hospital, my Mom has to pick him up Tuesday. We’re all going to risk exposure, we’ll all have comorbidities, and two weeks from now the hospitals everywhere will probably be overrun.

I have a really bad feeling about this.

this guy produces a video on Covid daily.

You should have punched her in the nuts.

Burr sold personal stocks worth between $628,000 and $1.72 million in 33 separate transactions on a single day, February 13th, according to public disclosures.

It was, according to ProPublica, the most stock he’s sold in a single day in 14 months.

Asked by NPR for a comment on the senator’s stock sales, Burr spokesperson Carroll replied, “lol.”

Carroll later reached out to say that the ‘lol’ remark was meant to express displeasure with NPR’s earlier characterizations and not intended as an on-the-record response.
