SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

Most will pretty much only have credit/debit card tips reported.

Sure but that’s probably 80% of their actual tips in most places these days.

A common thing for people to say is that the US is two weeks behind Italy on the curve. Where would they say Australia is?

That’s fantastic. Thanks!

It was a mistake, but I think it still highlights a serious concern that if we can’t measure and evaluate the full impact of COVID19 on our healthcare system because we aren’t registering it, then we have less a chance of learning from this experience and making the changes we need to for the next time.

Anyone else have sex over the weekend we haven’t heard from yet? TR?

World leaders haven’t figured out that the economy is crashing no matter what they do. They need to stop taking half measures.

I dgaf about the economy either as long as everyone has a roof over their heads, enough decent food, healthcare and education for their kids.

Fuck it, the BoE has already printed £435Bn to rescue the City floppy fringes, a few billion more for something that’s worthwhile won’t be noticed.

A devastated economy will kill vastly more people than this virus. Unemployment will shoot depression rates through the roof and kick off a wave of suicides. People will become homeless and die from exposure, hunger, etc. I’m barely invested but I know if this turns sideways we are doubly fucked.

Like it or not, the economy does affect many people in ways that are as significant or greater than the direct threat of COVID19. People losing jobs en masse or losing their homes has real impacts, including to their health, elspecially in USA#1 where we are run by a death cult that hoard guns and believes that it’s better to let people die in the street than provide basic social safety nets.

Alright well Ralphs in the new Costco. I’m in a parking lot waiting for one to open in 10 minutes and there’s a crowd of people. I feel like I’ve been preparing for this moment my entire life guys I’m ready.

Chuds at work still saying how overblown all this is and the media is driving people into hysterics. Joking about how they coughed the other day.

OK I did my 4 mile run this morning, typical pace and heart rate. I’m going to assume that means I’m Corona Free (all the flavor, none of the Corona).

My plan is to do a BIG Costco run today with the hope of not having to do any food shopping for 30 days. Maybe realistic, maybe not. Anyway, Costco’s posted opening time is 10AM, this one typically opens the doors 15-20 minutes early. And I’ve heard some are opening as early as possible. It’s currently 6:50AM in Los Angeles, I’m going to leave in 10 minutes and be there at 7:15. All I was going to do in the next couple of hours was dick around with you guys anyway, I can do that in my car. When I arrive at Costco at 7:15AM, what do you think I’ll find?

  • I will be alone, the first lunatic to arrive at the nuthouse.
  • There will be a small (less than 20) group of lunatics there with me
  • It will already be crowded / big line

Got a big grocery delivery from Peapod today. I was worried that they would be out of stock of a lot of things that I had ordered, but they ended up having everything except for a bag of onions and some hot dogs. So that’s one less thing to worry about for now.

Well, like I said, they are taking precautions, with everyone wiping down equipment and hands and faces every 15 mins or so with alcohol wipes. Running next to other people on a treadmill facing a wall doesn’t result in much contact, less so than being served food or dealing with a cashier. Also, have diabetes and it’s been well controlled since going to the gym regularly the last few months and I’d like to keep it that way.

Also, as I started doing yesterday, I’m planning to take my temperature every day before going and plan to skip if it’s over 99.0 degrees.

I normally go out on Fridays, often to the local bar two blocks away, but decided not to this Friday, both because I had to work to finish on Saturday and due to Corona virus. One of the bartenders, who often hooks me up, was talking up St. Patrick’s Day at the bar a few weeks ago, but I obv won’t be going, though I’m not even sure they’ll be open now.
