SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

I have heard that in a lot of states there’s some kind of technical loophole that lets people who are laid off because of government ordered shutdowns automatically qualify for UE. So businesses in that situation have no real disincentive to just lay everyone off immediately and throw them onto unemployment.

Chinese poker is certainly a real game, and Scrotus seems pretty bad at it.

Our company is considering having people work different shifts to get around the now 75% work from home rule.

Capitalism baby!

I’ve lost 5 lbs since Friday. No soda (diet but still), no takeout, only healthy stuff in the fridge so I’m not super tempted to raid it. Very few carbs.

(I know I didn’t lose 5 lbs of fat don’t @ me MFers, still feels good)

It’s also incredibly sobering because Americans are never going to be that meticulous. And that’s Beijing which barely got hit.

It’s a favor for service workers who live mostly on tips, or salespeople.

Welp, one of the guys is work with is out with a fever. Don’t think I’ve been in contact with him for a while.

Italy deaths overtake China’s

Italy has confirmed another 427 deaths in the past 24 hours, raising the toll to 3,405 - and therefore overtaking China, where the virus originated.

Ignorant overconfidence isn’t a good look, either. Who knows what assets many/most of them have. Neither of us are in a good position to know, and there really isn’t time for Congress to open up their balance sheets and do an investigation either. That being said, I’ve digressed pretty far from my real concern, which is pushing back on the people who keep insisting that the Dems are somehow worse/further to the right than the Republicans. I’ll bow out, I don’t think I’m adding anything of value at this point. Cheers.

First, if Trump feels he has to do a presser everyday, he can really shorten it by just getting up there and saying “Things are going great, anything that isn’t is somebody else’s fault, probably your governor, MAGA/KAG, goodbye.” and be done with it.

Second, fuck me, anxiety level is rising - anybody have any good news to share about this? Looks like we’re either locked in our houses for the next year and a half or we’re all going to die. Anything?

I’m locked in the house with my wife and I working from home and trying to keep our 7 year old educated and entertained. We’ll all be dead in a year if this continues either by homicide or suicide.

It helps me to imagine I’m a French civilian in WWII - with a wall in my house missing and I’m trying to give my baby to US troops. This is a cake walk comparatively.

Although it’s also a million times easier for me because this is my life 95% of the time anyway - except for working from home - which is better than LA traffic and dealing with coworkers face to face.

427 is down from 475 the previous day. But new cases are up to 5322. I don’t know why the charts on worldmeters take like 12 hours to get up to date with the data (see below for actual data).

Damn only 415 recoveries (dimessi_guariti) though. Yesterday was 1000.

Bingo, fuck all the olds who ruined our planet I hope Covid ravishes them

Caught a little of Colin Cowherd’s show on my lunch break. He had Dr. Drew on, who is STILL saying this is a nothingburger, we are “fully prepared,” hospitals are ramping up capacity each day, nothing like Italy, media overblowing this for ratings, etc. He is an absolute garbage human and will 100% get someone killed if he hasn’t already. They should pull his goddamn medical license (if he even has one).
