Sapo plans a healthier March

Thanks! Though I maintain that the relative ease has to do with the amount of prior excess.

I was thinking this weekend how much fun it is to overeat. To be a glutton. I mean, to really consume to excess. But if I said that to your average person, or a person in good shape, it wont make any sense at all. That would be painful.

But, when you get into the habit … when 200+ is my normal weight … I can eat multiple big meals, consume alcohol every day, not exercise … and it’s fun. I can spend a Sunday eating thousands of calories. … then again, right now that doesn’t sound fun at all.

I picked up 25 pounds the other day and realized, shit, that is a LOT of extra weight to be carrying around 24/7, and so I’m very happy with my progress so far.

So, I’m gonna be that guy: what’s changed in the poop-department?

Also, I’d have eaten the lentils: probiotics yo!

Didn’t get a chance to read the thread but good luck to you, Sapo as these can always be inspiring for others.

Only thing I’ll say now is that for me, forcing a habit to work out in the evenings or even late night right before bed worked wonders for me as far as preventing overeating and maintaining general discipline. Something about coming home late night feeling detoxed and relaxed after a workout always made me sleep well and wake up motivated the next day. Everyone is different though.

If that was all fat, it would have a volume of 12.6 liters or 3.3 gallons. A gallon of fat is a buttload.

Haha this fascinates me. The biggest change overall is volume. I barely shit at all anymore! Like, WOW. I used to produce substantial solid waste every day and now it’s almostb like every other day I produce about 20-30% of what I did. Amazing.

This is a good idea. Yesterday I walked twice, about 3-4 miles each. But the second walk was in the afternoon and by the time I was ready for bed I was getting hungry and didn’t have good food on hand. Ate some bread. … Shifting to a bit later exercise could help.

No, not all for sure. But most? I can definitely feel a difference in my body, feelin it be less “in the way” than it was … I don’t think I’ve put on much/any muscle tho. Not sure what else there is to lose, except my keys.

Scale today, 183.4

Ate a healthy breakfast yesterday, of rice and eggs and veggies, and then compulsively ate the granola my gf made the rest of the day … it’s so damn good, and semi-sweet so I don’t get tired of it. Too much!

Is it as simple is less volume in = less volume out?

I’m going through something similar with intermitent fasting (18/6) currently. Gone from an elite-level pooper (once a day, set your watch by it, floaters etc) to all over the clock disgraceful specimens. Creating havoc when making deliveries at the weekend (I run a small CSA-type farm btw).

Anyhoo, keep it up, you’re doing great imo. Let us know when you next have a movement you’re proud of!

Very tiny cause for concern: My shits are pale, two days running.

Scale this AM, 183.4 … yesterday, 183 … yesterday had dinner with my gf: her lentil soup I’ve mentioned before, bread, red wine, olive oil …

I feel really good, physically, hence the “very tiny” cause for concern. If you feel good, most times changes in your waste color are food-related and normal (per my internet googling and medical degree). … pale can mean a lack of bile though, so it’s something to keep an eye on. … nothing has changed too significantly in my diet in recent weeks, so frankly I am wondering wtf is up.

Ad placement fail …

You know what calms me down? A nice hot cup of cocoa. Also highly effective as a poop color additive.

Scale back to 183.
Poop back to brown.
Season back to winter …

Since making changes to my diet, I’ve mostly stopped shopping in the large grocery store near me. I’ve been buying a lot less food, mostly local. So it was actually sort of jarring to walk into the big shop yesterday. This was somehow particularly … weird and kinda gross.

This cereal doesn’t even have a name?

The cereal aisle is truly a terrifying window into the dark heart of capitalism. Every week when I get my yogurt I am confronted with some abomination on the other side of the aisle.

But it’s natural!

Worked outside yesterday. Dismantled an old greenhouse, took down two trees for next year’s firewood. Ate a lot of veggies, also bread, and 2 eggs.

Scale: 182.8

Random stat from this scale … my overall muscle mass is high?

Mentioned earlier, I spent about 10 years fencing competitively and have always thought it had a significant, lasting impact on my body. … possible relation? I really don’t know, and this scale could of course be bullshit. otoh, I’ve always felt I carried weight relatively well and me at 205 didn’t really look it. So.

In other non-news from the app, based on weight asnd BMI I am still “overweight.”

ETA: That body fat goal may be unattainable, I really don’t know. 16% now seems low, considering weight lost relative to goal.

Yesterday was a good day. I chopped wood out at the cabin for a few hours. Later my gf came over and we hit a nearby beer garden, and then drank a bunch of wine, solved all the worlds problems and had lentils and garlic toast at midnight for dinner.

This morning we baked a loaf of bread, and made avacado toast*. Also, here’s a picture of Cheryl, one of 72 garter snakes in my front yard.

Scale this morning read 182.8 … I assume there’s a jump up in the near future, as my body deals with the alcohol and rehydrates. Still. … I have to say, I’m happy that my “excessive consumption” now looks like a more-healthy fraction of what it was two months ago.

Closing in on the end of April. … I think in May, I’d like to commit myself to staying (shit, getting) active. Walking more, working on the wood pile, whatever. I’ve lost a lot of the really easy weight, but frankly I’m somewhat close to 180 and don’t feel “super fit” like I said I expected to (albeit at 175), a while back …

I think it’s possible to hit 175 in May, but it will take actual exercise. I think I’ve passed the point where diet alone gets this done.

*bread for toast was not the same bread we made.

Still mostly diet imo. It just gets harder.

4/26 - 183.4 (-0.5%)

Pattern continues, a slowing of weight loss. Fasting today.

I didn’t wind up fasting all day yesterday, mostly because I got back to the cabin one last time before the current occpuant returns today, and was able to chop wood for a while. So, back home, I was pretty hungry. Tossed some broccoli in curry paste and olive oil, and roasted that. Had some bread, and a banana also. …

Scale still says 183.4

Continuing to watch different numbers move randomly on this scale/app … my BMI went from 26.2 to 26.3 from yesterday to today, with no change in weight and (presumably) no (measured) change in height …

My body feels pretty good. Working on the wood pile is great exercise. It’s about 32 degrees here now but will hit 70 by late afternoon, maybe today is a good first time to take the kayak out.

Second vaccine shot today.

182 pounds today. Clothes fit again. Feeling good. No post-2nd shot symptoms, aside from the left arm which feels like I attemped 100 push-ups.

Speaking of, how many could I do right now? And if I spent May trying to increase that #, how many could I add? … I remember knocking out 50 at a time pretty easy, way back. 20 good ones would likely be a struggle now.

Oh, and I have returned from the future for my 44th metabolic age birthday …

When I started out, this was at 49. Today it reads 44, my actual age. But … sounds like bullshit?

According to a sports medicine specialist, "Metabolic age isn’t something we talk about in the medical community… The marker of the ultimate definition of health it is not.”[1]

lol …

I have no idea if I’m fat or not anymore. I mean, maybe I was really borderline obese. Ok. … And there’s definitely still plenty of weight I could lose. But this app is starting to feel a bit like gaslighting.

It’s taken me a year to get from 35 to 50. Probably close to my all time best. Ymmv
