Rooting for Bubba Wallace & His Black Lives Matter #43 Car in NASCAR Race at Martinsville

Like I was saying before, he doesn’t have the fastest car but he’s got a willingness to go for it. I don’t think he can hold the lead for long, but he seems to have a knack for planting his car in the front of one of the lines and trying to draft his way to the front. If he can time a move right and take the lead on the last lap, that’s his chance.

If he wins this thing, it’ll be because he drove the wheels off of it and gave himself a chance to get lucky.

The self funded billionaire president really needs my money or THIS WOMAN becomes speaker again

I see you got the same commercial as me. I’m tempted to text FUCK YOU to whatever that number was, but I don’t want to be on their texting list.

When you say he doesn’t have the fastest car does that mean it wasn’t tuned up right or something?

Or is it like a pitcher not having his best stuff but still pitching a good game?

Yeah I need a Google number for just such instances

There are a lot of little things that can make one car faster than another.

Here’s a pretty good article about how money in the sport produces faster and slower cars.

Edit: "Walk the row of 40 cars, and there is no hint why some are so much faster than others of the same brand.

The answer to that question: “Money,” said one of the owners of a back-marker car that typically makes the field but has never won. “If one team has sponsorship of, say, $2 million and another team has a $20-million sponsor, no amount of talent or desire can make up that difference.”

Some manufacturers and teams have better engines/setups at different tracks. He doesn’t seem to quite have the top end speed. A difference of even like 1 or 2 horsepower probably makes a massive difference.

There’s a group of four Penske Ford cars that are REALLY strong when they run together. Bubba’s team, while owned by the most famous/successful driver of all time, is not on the same financial footing as a few of the bigger ones.

Bubba. Into. Third.

15 to go!

Thanks, I appreciate your updates.

This is the Deep South. This is 100 miles up the road from Selma. This is about 24 hours after someone put a noose in this kid’s garage. He doesn’t have the fastest car, he doesn’t have the best funded team. He didn’t have the best starting position. He has had to overcome so much to even be racing at this level.

Bubba Wallace is running in third with 12 laps left and a chance to pull this off!

That’s why it was so great when Alan Kulwicki (RIP) won the championship as an owner/driver on a smallish budget.

I forget whether this came up, bu this is the first sporting event in the US with paid attendance, though only 5,000 at a venue that seats more than 100,000. I don’t know if they came back after yesterday’s rain delay.

There is a race within a race now. A handful of drivers are conserving gas, riding at the back, because a lot of the field may not be able to make it to the finish. But you never know how those things are going to shake out. Bubba does not appear to be conserving fuel, he’s going for it. A lot can happen.

He’s running in fourth, which is third in the inside line. 9 laps left.

Fuck, Bubba cannot make it to the end, so we need a caution within the next few laps.

Do drivers who need a caution still rip padding off their roll cage and throw it on the track?

LOL no I think that’s more of a short track thing. But I haven’t watched NASCAR in like 10+ years.

There’s at least a slight chance they’re sending out misinformation on the scanner. Meanwhile the guy I got the free $5 bet on at 20 to 1 is up to fifth and can make it on gas.

I saw someone do it before, a long time ago. Harry Gant or maybe Dick Trickle. In car camera caught them!

LOL

It’s too late to hope for a caution because they’ll add laps. Either the fuel calcs are off or they’ll run out.
