RFC: Proposed New Subforum

Sure I suppose, but that thread also includes a mod making PMs public in it too. Doesn’t seem particularly right. Should just be deleted.

If we agree that some of us on the non-captains side could improve our tone (me, jman, ikes, others) can we also agree that sabo talking down to everyone like they’re a dim-witted toddler is out of line?

Because I don’t cheerlead jman when he gets into it with jalfrezi. I call him out. But time after time in the sabo threads I see the same posters cheering on his antics and posting stuff to the effect of, “you just can’t comprehend sabo’s genius, mannn”. The latter grates on me a lot more than sabo, whom I can ignore.

A big part of the problem is that wookie made a poll about the C word, assuming confidently that the No vote would prevail. Instead, a majority of the community voted Yes. Wookie and crew were not willing to accept the will of the community, and here we are.

But Johnny is right, he wasn’t involved with that so we should litigate it elsewhere. (Or not)

Speaking for myself, certainly. I think it would be true for many others as well.

If it is deleted or not or visible or not only matters to those who want to use the snooped PMs as a cudgel against their enemies.

I dont think anyone is saying insults are a new thing. In fact, it is the opposite. They’re appalled they’ve been allowed to go on this. For the past few weeks, multiple people who were involved in the PM group have called those who weren’t “conservative” as an insult even though those posters have no history of right wing posting. It’s been lazy and unwarranted. Then, you have 6ix actually calling people stupid. Why do we need this? It’s just so, so much worse than even the worst times on 2p2. I genuinely don’t even remember shit like the Trayvon threads being this toxic.

Does the new Captain’s Corner forum Sabo created solve any of the issues some of you guys have?

And JT, you don’t have to reply to this, but as I have been the harshest, meanest person (I think) in the last few days, I don’t think it’s fair to lump my reaction after reading the pm with the broader toxicity that some feel has existed before. This is sort of a one off thing for me, at least to this degree.

Do you really not see how you set the tone for Jman and Ikes and Suzzer and whomever else, all the mini versions of them, to be the way they are when you shitpost like this?

Is there a number of posters that folks in the PM group could have “disappeared” to keep us just one forum?

p.s. Nvm, that’s rhetorical. The answer is it does, it doesn’t particularly matter if you see it; that’s the whole point of this workaround they’re trying to do.

It’s a forum about nothing

You guys did this! Not one of you said anything bad to PC when it happened though. I’m shocked!

You guys do not care about this either. It’s more trolling.

I have no idea what you’re talking about.

it never is until it is, right?

What does it matter? I think a big issue here is that main forum isn’t totally against unorthodox opinions but at some point they are like okay, you’ve said your piece, most of us disagree, now give it a rest. But everyone wants to get the last word in, so then at some point modding is needed and then the forum democracy rules in favor of the side that is “correct” on the underlying issue.

The people who want to move to the new forum don’t think that is fair and are lashing out more and more. Why SenorKeed (who drives me crazy) is aligning w/ anarchists and shit. Then people like JT and 6ix take the side of the “bullied.”

Just let them have the forum to stretch their legs and talk about whatever they want.

I’m not surprised. Revealing PMs in order to attack other posters was so perfectly fine when your little group did it that you can’t even remember it.

Revealing a PM that you legitimately have access to is very different from hacking into someone else’s PMs.

I suppose a should say more as I seem to be the only potential insurrectionist and member of team toxic who has voted with team authoritarian on the idea of a subforum.

I just don’t think a subforum will help in any way and that the problems we clearly have need to tackled properly.

I just can’t see why mods can’t agree to take breaks from modding - that seems to me to be a the root of all this.

Wookie mentioned in the new mods rfc thread that standard mod term is 6 months and mods aren’t obligated to stand again. I’ve included that in a meme as I don’t think this template has been used enough :)
