Reveal Thread: Walrus Grab Bag 2 - The Walrus Strikes Back

Yeah, I would suggest just sticking to tomorrow when you can commit to a time. It would be good to have everyone available for the last category.

Vote for reveal time tomorrow (all times eastern).

Vote as many as work for you and I’ll reveal at the optimal time.

Finding out which of us have lives (I’ll be at work so anytime is both theoretically good and bad).

I’ll actually be doing a lit drop, so the times I picked are actually when I might be able to check in on my phone once in a while.

Sorry I haven’t been participating lately. I have some “real life” stuff going on.

I have been scrolling when I can, but I didnt want to sprinkle my usual likes until i could properly listen to the reveals.

Awwwwww yah

Me and Nicholas seem to have exactly opposite musical tastes, so I’m not expecting anything except a nodium here.
Still looking forward to some haunting beauty though

I liked my choice for this category despite it being fairly random, interested to see how it does. Lots of placement implications depending on how people do here!

Relistening to it now I’m suddenly less confident that nickp will actually like it.

Ok, let’s get this started. There are 4 top ones then another bunch in the middle. It was hard to rank within these groups, but I have them ordered as of now and it’s the deadline so this is where they will be ranked.

The last place song is a fine song, but I actually pmed pauwl to ensure it was meant for my category as it doesn’t seem to fit with what I asked for. That didn’t doom it to last by itself, but I also wasn’t feeling it. In another walrus I may have ranked it higher, but in this one compared to the other entries, it gets last.

The 12th place song reminded me of Mazzy Star or Sheryl Crow or similar. Another decent song that I wasn’t feeling. She draws out most of the words in the song extra long, which didn’t do a ton for me.

Rounding out the nodium is a song that has a short chorus line that keeps getting stuck in my head. However, I believe in my category write-up I said I greatly prefer stripped down songs. It’s ok to have some haunting melody behind it for mood or something, but to have a ton of electronic and instrument sounds making noise over the singer is very hit or miss for me.

Yes, rapid fire reveals are my favorite!

Also, final nodium avoided. Yay!

This has to be a mistake unless someone couldn’t think of anything and decided to just YOLO it. Maybe this was their backup guitar or political song choice? It’s a pretty good song but doesn’t fit the category at all.

In 10th place I wouldn’t really consider to be haunting or hauntingly beautiful, but it is an old school singer-songwriter that I enjoy and I hadn’t heard this song of his. He’s no Cat Stevens, but he’s pretty good.
