Just finalizing a couple things. T-minus 15 minutes…
If anyone hanging around has a minute to @ everyone, that would be appreciated.
I’ll be back in about 45 minutes. Soooo… don’t put me on the nodium?!
I need to go to bed soon so swap my deserved victory with whatever nonsense Louis sent in. I can take it.
Awwwww yeah
I really liked most of these. Thanks for the submissions, all. Judging is always tough, and I hate nodiuming people, but it is what it is. I judged these on skill, guitar tone, awesomeness, overall song, and sometimes a spoiling element that ruined an otherwise good song. You didn’t need to be Jesse Cook to win. Talent is just one area that could be made up with other strengths.
I was looking for something like these.
Roy Clark going ham in front of a live audience and even gets Tony and Jack to break character at the end:
Neuraxis (cued up to the best bit):
I know…never read the comments. But I love youtube comments on music. So I’ll post a comment I found that I like from each as a kind of 30 second chance to guess the song or get a feel for what someone liked about it. Don’t go search the comments of your own submission unless you want to get spoiled…
In-coming Glen Campbell alert
In 13th place and 1 point…Slipknot – Nero Forte (2019)
First impression: Hmm.
Later: A really good first 30 seconds, as the submitter notes:
The whole song kicks ass, but the guitar in the first 30 seconds or so just grabs you by the balls and doesn’t let go.
They seem to hold back though. Feels a tad underwhelming for the rest. A lot of compression, I think. Vocals are a tad painful. The breakdown at 3:00 and onward is pretty good. I know that all metal is a tad silly, but these guys really press the envelope. Sorry #13.
Welp.
Didn’t think I’d win, but surprised that I got last here.
ok Ill take 2 points
Unrucky. I fuckin love this song and had been keeping it up my sleeve for a future Walrus.
In 12th place with 2 points…Marco Sfogli - The Reaction (2016)
This is cool. The guy’s talented and fun to watch. Drum machine backing is always a bit deflating for me, personally. The backing track in general is pretty robotic. Still, a neat performance. None of it stands out as especially moving or revolutionary, but a neat performance and an obvious talent. Lacks heart a bit. Various things seem to be advertised throughout the video and in the description. It does feel a tad like a trailer for a guitar course or something.
u missed the ‘fun’
