I fogot to add: I have listened to this song many times and only today have I realized that it doesn’t have a chorus which is cool in itself.

In 1st place scoring 13 points: “Bat Out Of Hell” by Meat Loaf

When I saw this in the submission list I thought to myself “really?” and expected it to be severely hurt by familiarity. The reason this didn’t happen was because I was mostly familiar with the single edit version.

This is the purest distillation of the category in my opinion. What screams delusions of grandeur more than creating a ten minute song that has lots of moving parts. This could have easily crashed and burned.

The first two minutes already give you a full song’s worth of experiences and you ain’t seen nothing yet. Say what you will about Meat Loaf, that guy can sing. The chorus rocks. In the course of this ride we get opera levels of pathos. The tension nicely ebbs and flows for about 8 minutes before Meat Loaf once more goes pedal to the metal for the finale of the song.

That’s how you do a power ballad.

Booooom, nothing in this universe says “Delusions of Grandeur” more than the career of Meatloaf.

was kinda busy throughout this and the category is probably the furthest away from my musical preferences but any reveal that ends with 13 points to meatloaf is a great one imo.

Louis reveals are always bananas and this was no exception. Alot of crazy songs that I would never be exposed to otherwise. This opens my eyes to alot of strange artists from around the world. Great stuff!

It’s really funny because we had the exact same reaction to this. When I read the category my first thought was “I would do anything for love” because holy shit is that song melodramatic and full of itself in so many ways, but I was sure that it would be knocked down for familiarity. When I started to listen to the rest of his songs, I realized that while I knew “Bat Out of Hell” I had heard the full version of it maybe only one other time in my life, and the full 10 minutes is just pure epic.

I’ve always like Mr. Loaf’s music and he has such a killer voice, that him being reduced to essentially meme status is a bit sad, but seeing how seriously he takes some of his stuff, it doesnt surprise me.

also because it’s bad

Well obviously it isnt the powerhouse of Bat Out of Hell, but he belts the shit out of some of the lines in that song.

i think i finished 5th in five out of nine categories so far. that’s just weird.

My first reaction was wrong about Bat out of hell. Maybe I should go back to listen to “I would do anything for love”.

@CanadaMatt3004 takes down a win. Great Success!!

@LouisCyphre joins the 100 club and takes 2nd place with a fun reveal.

@Yuv now stands alone in the no-nodium club (technically never less than 5th) and 1st place.

ETA: Normally, I try to wait until at least the podium have identified their songs before I post the scoring. It’s more fun for people to go through the posts and fade a bunch of spots before finding their own and reading what was said about it. Rather than skip to the last post and read the chart.
