I have no idea where I will place here which likely means I am expecting last place but will end up 5th or something

I never take apart songs i listen to so never really thought man this track has great drums or whatever. Confidence level not high.

Otoh i thought i will nodium matt’s category and that i’ll podium the scream category and finished the same in both. Confidence level irrelevant

I usually fancy my chances in a pyat category, but no idea how I might get on today. As a bass player I’m feeling brutalized by having to make a drum selection, and also choose a guitar riff.

Well it’s yet more discrimination.

Hrm…hard to be sure with just one listen since most entries moved around over time. Honestly I still think this is in the bottom half somewhere given how competitive that category was for me.

I definitely nodiumed this category and while I likely never would have done well I wish I would have at least submitted something that pyat might have enjoyed despite subpar drumming. Definitely being results oriented as I never expected to be leading after five categories and now a big drop going to sting more than my typical low finishes in a pyat category.

I feel like I should do pretty well here. Which is probably how the GOAT felt when he submitted Jeff Buckley for my category, so…

I enjoy good drumming and I put a lot of thought and heart into this category.

nodium incoming, ldo

It was his dad he submitted. No wonder you found him a bit un-Jeff like. :grinning:

OK, in about 15 minutes, a walrus all about the consensus pick for greatest instrument ever, the drums (not the guitar like what @cassette thinks.)

You may ask what makes hitting things repeatedly so good? Well, think about it for a moment. Obvious, no? It’s the hitting part. The sound it produces is also great and is mostly what we’ll be talking about today.

How I incorporated advanced drum ranking into this song competition is another thing you may ask. Thank you for may have having asked that. Well, after several (~5) listens, when I began trying to rank the entries I also gave them each a rating for drums. My system used ‘+’ for good, ‘0’ for mediocre and ‘-’ for a bit rubbish, and I chained those symbols together as I saw fit. That rating then sorted relative positions for songs close in overall quality. An exacting science.

Not too excited about how that scoring system matched up with my track, but pretty pumped for this category overall.

Alright, let us proceed.

yes!

If this category is just 12 Neal Peart submissions then mine (not Neal), I’ll be disappointed in y’all.
