I’m thinking about taking a break from my log as I am clearly not in the right mindset to lose weight. I guess the plus side of logging is that I should be able to stop weight gain from occurring.

Well I’ve definitely had days where I was feeling low and could easily have comfort ate an extra 500 calories on top of the 2000 or so I actually ate. It does keep my bad days from getting catastrophic.

That’s what I think too Rexxie, and for that reason I encourage you to keep logging.

I think it’s definitely important to acknowledge that it is a difficult time right now and not judge yourself harshly if your numbers are a bit more inconsistent, but logging still keeps you in touch a little more with your goal and will keep your highs a bit lower.

This is of course only if the logging is not making your mental health worse.

I think the key (and the hardest part of course) is self compassion. It’s harder right now and you should show compassion to yourself and not judgement. But still keeping the goal there because ultimately you want that for yourself too.

Just my unsolicited feedback/encouragement.

Thanks for the considered response. You and Johnny have convinced me to continue on. I think I have been a bit hard on myself. Life is very tough atm. I have an added element of difficulty which I can’t discuss here as I am sure other people probably do as well.

I do appreciate the support I’m shown in my log. I feel a little unworthy of it sometimes but clearly people here are much kinder to myself than I am, which I do appreciate.

I definitely need to get back into yoga and I think my foot is probably good enough to do some kettlebells. It might be good to think of an exercise goal that I have a chance of doing so I get some sort of win so to speak. I know food is the most important key to weight loss but atm my mental health is probably more an issue and exercise would help with that.

I also would not have hit target nearly as much if I wasn’t counting I don’t think. It’s all too easy to justify eating drinking something extra in the current climate.
