The problem is that it’s not in the interest of the community for them to respond to grievances that are just long running wars or bad faith, it’s not helping anyone. So the challenge is giving them leeway to make that judgement call without giving them an out to use it all the time.
I’m not sure of the solution. Perhaps it just has to be worded softly and the community can judge the situation and act accordingly.
Or you could require all bans to include at least a sentence of explanation or a quote/copy and paste of what triggered it and why.
That would require a similar level of explanation without requiring the mods to argue with people.
