I’ve got no problems with the composition of the French team and I consider them all French. Nevertheless, I am curious about one thing. How many of the players on the squad could represent a country other than France?

I assume it’s well over half. I also assume that is common for multiple teams besides France.

Certainly well over half the England squad could. It’s pretty much a consequence of empire.

Think I read somewhere that something like 100 French born players are at this world cup.

All you need is one grandparent born in another country or to have gained citizenship before 18 I believe.

I assume 80+% of all players in the WC would fall under this category.

I think teams are allowed a couple naturalized citizens after age 18 as well so long as they didn’t play for another national team after they turned 18.

You get a one time switch at any age so long as you don’t have some sort of qualifying event. Iirc it’s basically three friendlies after 21 or one major tournament game

I like the show. It certainly deviates from the show, as it must, but the changes have been interesting.

Most things Empire are well done and entertaining.

Everything with Harry, Gael(?) and psycho history is not.

Agree. The stuff with Empire is interesting at times but borderline unwatchable because I hate Lee Pace so much, but the stuff with Hari and especially Gaal is great. I tried talking about it with my sister who’s read the books but hasn’t seen the show and she had no clue what I was talking about because apparently the plot diverges so much from the Asimov stuff that what I was describing was unrecognizable to her.

Iirc she said Gaal is a minor character in the books, or is a man? Maybe that was the point of confusion I was talking about a female character who is apparently male in the book so she wasn’t making the connection

Yeah I was ironically agreeing with him because I feel the complete opposite. I don’t mind d the stuff on the Empire planet when Lee Pace isn’t in it but more than 5 minutes an episode with him is too much

I don’t know how much I would hate him if I my introduction to him hadn’t been playing such a narcissistic ass in Halt and Catch Fire. Now he’s an even more narcissistic ass as Empire
