I love the Tour de France. Along with the Giro & Vuelta etc. Takes some time if you try to watch the entire stage each day, but worth the strategy. It’s not just legs!
Pogacar a long way ahead in the Tour right now, but the camera shots in todays stage on Peacock have been fantastic (stage 16). We’re not at the base of the Ventoux yet.
I think we might have had a cycling thread before, not sure. I haven’t been watching much of this years edition due to work unfortunately, but catching up on recaps. Another year where the top is not close :/
I think Vingo is probably doing the right thing, he hasn’t been able to get away from Pog so he is probably going to suck his wheel the whole tour and hope he has a bad day in the mountains at some point. Just his luck to be an incredible cyclist the same time Pog is racing… :)
Other way round. Pog can easily suck Vingos wheel. Vingo more likely to crack. Usually the other way for Vingo. Unless you mean Pog can now suck the wheel.
I think the only way Vingo gets away from Pog is if Pog has a bad day and cracks on one of the mountains. So as long a Vingo stays close to Pog it doesn’t matter who is in front.
…you and I missed the part about Pog being in front by 4 mins… media gonna play it up obv…
…But… I think it matters a LOT!
POG just gonna win the Tour, He”s already got it; that’s all he wants. Media gonna media.
They’re currently waffling about “why didn’t Pog go for the Mont Ventoux win?”.
Very exciting stage yesterday! Yeah, I don’t think people who don’t ride uphill have much idea just how much riding up hill sucks, so if no one is going to challenge him Pog doesn’t need to spend the energy to chase down dudes an hour behind him in the GC.
Stopped watching the tour de pharma a long time ago. Mainly because I moved to Australia and can no longer watch live in the background but also because there is no way they aren’t still used PED’s.
I started watching the tour during Armstrong’s run so I know what you mean, however, I think it may not be as bad as you think, I think this guy came up during Armstrongs era as well and tend to believe him:
I am pretty sure cyclists are still all using PED’s. It is just no longer as blatant as before. They will call them ‘supplements’ and what they do is make sure everything that impacts performance and recovery is basically 24/7 slighly below the legal maximum. The bigger the team the better they are at doing this and they still fail sometimes. I don’t think the major events like Giro and Tour de France can’t be done at these powerlevels without that. In the end I did enjoy watching the Armstrong years so I have no problem with people still pretending cycling is clean now.
