Assume you are not American, used to think that way back in 2017. Then I realized that the sick fucks he is appealing to figuratively** get a hard-on when they see libs like me upset much less panicked or frightened. There is literally nothing someone like me can do to change the mind of someone who is thinking of voting for him, if they flip Biden somehow this late in the game it’s going to be for quasi-random reasons.
But my existence and suffering and passionate pleaing is merely a primal reminder of the urge that they have to vote for Trump despite knowing that he is a nut low human being.
This isn’t old school politics where you are trying to get a bunch of clueless people out to vote for your guy. Hearts and minds are set on Trump, now all that’s left is to flip over the cards and see where we stand.
I actually had some hope Biden would be forced to adopt some popular leftist positions in order to win. In reality he’s running against the single biggest imbecile in electoral history so he’s going to win in a walk without having to do any of that.
That’s my official prediction btw. Absolute EC and popular vote landslide. I’m not even a little bit worried.
I’m voting for Joe. You should vote for Joe. The liberal concern trolling on this board is still nauseating.
Leaving is one of two options. The other is spending one’s time and money to prevent Trump to get reelected.
If people believe Trump is such a grave threat and he might finish off democracy how do you expect these people to behave? I am not arguing if they are wrong or right to believe that only that their actions should reflect their belief.
Hey man, I’d love nothing more than to be wrong here. His platform is meaningless to me. And he’s not even advocating for m4a in his fake platform! It’s monstrous.
It’s also pretty easy to feel trapped by feelings of powerlessness or nihilism or just fatigue. We spend inordinate amounts of time every single day worrying about how we’re going to keep ourselves and our families safe from disease, safe from smoke, safe from fire, fed, housed, etc., and the death of democracy in America is kinda far off and abstract. Throwing a c-note to a guy who’s gonna spend a few billion on this election doesn’t seem like it’ll make much difference. I sure as shit ain’t going door knocking in a pandemic. I have some friends who are phone banking, which is admirable.
we’re starting lit drops for our local candidate this weekend. No knocking, just putting the thing on the door and moving on. It’s like canvassing-lite.
A lot of people hate phone banking, but don’t mind canvassing, so it gives them something to do that might be useful that’s still socially-distanced.
They were talking about primaries. By all means try in 2 years to primary a bunch of dems you don’t like. It’s hard and you’ll have a 90%+ fail rate partly bc your demo is so small, but you aren’t hurting people like you would be if you don’t vote Biden. And if it again comes down to someone you aren’t crazy about like Beto vs absolute disaster Greg Abbott for Texas Gov I’d strongly recommend just voting Beto to get Medicaid expansion and a whole bunch of stuff that republicans refuse to do.
“Offering Medicare to all Americans” is Biden’s public option plan which won in 2020 and which has pretty solid bipartisan support. That is different from Medicare for All which is Sanders plan and less popular.
