Yeah, I’m a FL native, grew up in north Florida and moved to south FL for work.
Oh damn, lol.
KingofNY, how long are you in town for?
Since this is now the ViridianDreams AMA thread, is your screen name from the weird song below, does it have something to do with Harry Potter, or other?
My sn is unrelated. Viridian is a color that is a mixture of green and blue. Once I started getting interested in the environment and environmental issues in my twenties, I always thought it would be a cool name for a company, as it sounds cool and there’s kind of a nice metaphor in it, blue water, green land.
Never heard that song before, but I like it
We leave tomorrow sadly. Sorry I wasn’t more proactive and thought of it myself.
No worries. You on vacation?
Kind of. Gf was going a little off the rails at home so I insisted we take a trip somewhere that I could wear shorts and she could leave her work phone at home
It’s not bad. New age glitch is an interesting combo.
You might have to fight Viridian Dynamics for the trademark
These are from Sunday afternoon, I stopped in Big Cypress National Preserve on my way back from Captive. It was afternoon, and I was hoping to check out a new favorite spot to see if I could get some good light conditions. This place is real special, some enormous cypress trees. It’s a shame this whole area was logged in the early 20th century. I can’t imagine what magnificent trees and spaces would exist today if that hadn’t happened.
In the last picture there’s a hidden gator. Didn’t see it till after I took the shot and was trying to make my way across that water to get a shot from the other side. It was a bit spooky from that point on. Lol
Thanks. I haven’t yet given it serious thought, but I’ve had several people ask me if I was selling any photos, so I’m beginning to consider it. I feel like a bit of an imposter at this point, though, because I’ve only been doing this for a year and I still feel like I have a lot of things to learn and improve on from a technical perspective before I could rightly charge people money for photos.
There are a few photo competitions in South Florida that I think I’m going to enter this year as a way to stick my toe in the water, so to speak. Then there a lot of practical issues about selling photos professional of which I know nothing. Like, would I need a website? How should I print the shots? Who frames them?
I really appreciate the compliments, though.
Is this Mordor?
I’ve been living in Mexico for 2 years and the girlfriend and I decided to escape the “cold” weather in Mexico City (cold meaning low temps in the 40s) and head to Mazatlán for a month.
It’s far more laid back than the more famous beaches in Mexico, so not really a place for partiers, but I’m a big fan of the long boardwalk (2nd longest in the world), restored historic center with nice architecture, and beautiful sunsets.
Hoping these show up from mobile, if not I’ll try to edit in a bit.
These are from a couple hours ago when we first arrived here in Antigua Guatemala. It’s my first time here, we are staying here for 4 days and then going to Lake Atilan (sp?) for 4 days after. Like most places I’ve visited in Central America I’m already in love with this place. The people are extremely friendly and it’s beautiful out here. I wish my Spanish was better because not too many people speak English but I guess this is a good time to get some practice in and remember what I learned in high school
