Ya it’s a bit freaky how big the explosion is and how close to your face. Makes you flinch. I can see why accuracy is so difficult.
Crazy thing is this is process. Took us like 2 min to load. During revolutionary war they could do three shots a minute!
-Add fine gun power to trigger mechanism
-Measure 80 grains of powder then pour in muzzle
-Tear off a bit of sheeps wool and stuff it in muzzle.
-Add lead ball
-Take out ram rod and use it to push it all down into the bottom of the muzzle
-Put ram rod back in gun
-Cock flint
-Aim
-Fire

Fishing a lake on Mt St Helens with my daughter.
It’s my favorite lake. Pre-covid I had never seen more than maybe 10 cars in the lot.
The last two times I’ve went I barely found a spot. Somebody must have written an article about kayaking this lake because there’s now dozens of kayakers.

That was a popular drinking/smoking spot when I was in high school. Never realized it was that old of a tree or thought about it much back then. Just went back there today and looks like they kind of blocked it off to keep people from climbing on it. Felt bad I contributed to that.
