How was the rest of your trip?
I just got home late last night. The last day we took a boat out of Seward out into Kenai Fjords NP. We saw a ton of wildlife including a humpback whale, a ton of orcas/killer whales, a bald eagle, bears, sea otters and more:
And then of course as part of that we went to Aialik glacier which was beyond spectacular:

That sounds awesome. How was Seward?
It was a pretty neat little town. We just took a day trip out there from Anchorage so didn’t get to do a ton of exploring honestly.

Fire season came early to SoCal. This one’s about 2 miles from home, which is just a little disconcerting.

Is this as terrifying as it reads?
It was when it first sprang up. But pretty sure my neighborhood is OK given wind directions and a few natural barriers. But it’s a pretty dire omen for the region this summer.

I went hiking in East County San Diego a couple of weeks ago in an area that was burned during the Cedar Fire of 2003. A ton of the brush and vegetation has regrown and it was super dry. It didn’t look good to me.
Has anybody tried raking it yet?
