Where’s this?
North Cascades, WA, USA
Yeah OK, nice. I was going to guess Olympic, so pretty close.
Looks cold.
Here are some photos of Moore Cove Falls in Pisgah National Forest from when I went to Asheville last month:
That last pic is awesome
Thanks! It’s a high dynamic range composite shot, I think I combined around 22 individual photos to capture it all. It took me a couple hours t be able to get all the shots without tourists showing up, lol.
I don’t know anything about photography but the colors are really vibrant, is that because of the composition technique you used or post processing? I’m a sucker for nature pics printed on metal and that one would look fantastic.
Like if my wife let me I would just have metal printed pics of earth, landscapes and animals all over our house. I think they look so cool.
It’s a little to do with post processing, but also the leaves and the fungus were pretty vibrant irl. HIgh dynamic range (HDR) stacking I a post processing method where you combine several images that are either under exposed or over exposed into one image so you can bring out a lot more detail in a subject than you could with a single exposure. A lot of time in outdoor photography you run into a situation. Where you have some very bright spots, like the sun, mixed with some very dark spots, like a shaded cave. If you were taking a single exposure, you’d usually ha e to choose what parts of the picture you wanted to capture most, the bright parts or the dark parts, and set your exposure accordingly. If you wanted the dark details to show up, that means that the bright parts of the subject would be overexposed and appear white or washed out “clipped” is the term people use. Similarly, if you want the bright spots to show up you will have a much shorter exposure, resulting in the dark parts getting clipped. With HDR you take exposures set to capture the light and the dark parts and then use software to combine the photos so that you can bring out all the detail.
That’s what I did here, and then I played with the contrast and tweaked it a bit to pull back the fog a bit and bring out the colors a bit. I generally try not to over saturate because it’s over done and takes away from the shot. Imo. However different screens will render the colors differently, too.
Omg, no. I didn’t know that was a thing. I definitely would have. It was my first time to Pisgah, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a beautiful place.
Went to summer camp in that vicinity in the way, way back. Never know what one can come across in the deep forest. Or UP.
This is incredibly pretty. I can’t wait to visit Japan.
Been there four or five times, that water is COLD. Just down the road from those falls. Actually maybe it’s Looking Glass Falls it’s just down the road from?
I’m dealing with faint memory. Literally 40 years ago
