I hope that’s a telephoto lens!
I was zoomed in a bit, but no. It was only about 20’ away from me.
It was also on the other side of a window and one story down though.
I’ve never seen a bear in the wild. :-/
So I finally feel like I have the technical proficiency to be able to capture images that are high-enough quality that I can print them out at large size and still have a crisp image that I’m proud of. So I went back to my favorite cypress dome yesterday to see if I could get some print-worthy photos. The conditions ended up being great: clear water, interesting light, and almost no breeze. One big problem with capturing a super-sharp photo in the swamp is that the light is usually low, so (unless you are doing advanced things like focus stacking multiple photos) you have to use a slower shutter speed which increases the chances that a breeze will kick up and shake the limbs, causing blur. So I had my new, medium-format camera and quasi-nice wide-angle lens, and I was in hog heaven. I don’t have time to process all the photos yet, but here is one that I’m probably going to make a large print of for my office:
Here’s a different crop that I don’t quite like as much, because it takes emphasis off the beautiful reflection:
And here’s a bonus selfie I took when I realized that my neck gaiter color-coordinated with the swamp, lol:
Anyway, I hope y’all enjoy and I hope everyone’s staying safe.
They’re everywhere in western MA these days. 20 years ago a bear sighting was a major news story. Now it’s like, “The damn bear was in the trash again last night!”
Sisters fiancé just got this rooftop tent for his car which we are going to use for a camping trip to Zion and then Montana in September. We wanted to test it out and his brother just bought a piece of land in Michigan so we decided to go there this weekend. 1st pic is a little lake on a part of his land
I did one trip where we rented a smaller version of something like this that was just a tent on top of the car. Actually pretty useful in cold weather, being off the ground made it much easier to stay warm at night. We were at the Grand Canyon north rim with temperatures below freezing overnight and were comfortable.
Why the ring light? You streaming?
Lol. Yeah, that’s the only way I’ll ever see a freaking alligator infested swamp.
Nope, this is what teaching college classes looks like in 2020.
I uploaded the qless app, so I’m waiting in a virtual line to register a new vehicle!
i’ll drive to city hall when I’m 15 minutes out. technology!!
this is not a photo opportunity.
That is an alarmingly non-ergonomic setup.
