Poll: commonWealth should remain mod

Removing doxxing is a reason.

And Clovis I hate to break it to you, but no it hasn’t been required to be active here to be a mod.

Are the other mods incapable of handling that task?

Seemingly yes! It’s been allowed for the past six months!

Seems to me they’re doing fine.

From the other thread:

The primary concern seems to be that commonwealth’s former username would be searchable and lead people here. An easy fix to that would be to put that username in the profanity filter. People could still refer to that username with shorthand that would not have the adverse search effects that commonwealth is concerned about.

I expect that mods will continue to enforce rules against doxxing and harassment. And if someone believes they’ve been doxxed, and that the mods have not addressed it, they can notify me (@spidercrab) and I will remove the personally identifying information.

That strikes me as the easiest way forward.

I wasn’t sure if that would work

ETA: I added the username and it was filtered out in a test post I made, so…success?

I just tried it. Seems to work - ■■■■■■■■■■■

Does this work? If so, let’s do this.

I’ve got to admit, having c**** rounder listed as an actual profanity is perfect but can we also include c*** onwealth and f*** you ban me?

Then everyone apart from the famous five toadies can pretend he never happened.

Wouldn’t it just be simpler to tell Jalfrezi to stop harassing CW?

Simpler but not more effective for some reason.

So the profanity filter would save us from seeing the words cun*, the n-word, and cu**rounder? Seems reasonable.

I have nothing against CW, but I see little reason for him to remain a mod here since he left. I haven’t followed the drama closely, so maybe there is some detail that I’m missing that might change my mind?

The detail is that he was the only one willing to delete constant doxxing/harassment towards him from the usual suspects until about 24 hours ago.

This was his reasoning

The old screen name can’t be posted anymore and other mods will handle it if someone posts his initials or name (or yes, a clever play on his name).

I mean this is complete bs, but whatever. There were less than a half dozen posts this year that cw edited. I’m fairly certain none of them were flagged. So unless your standard is that the mod team should have been constantly running searches for his old username (which he was doing), I have no idea what you’re talking about.

I suppose that is a bit unfair. My understanding is that CW has made it clear why he’d be mod for some time, so why would he report anything though?

Also, what happens when the mod who has threatened to attack [edited for clarity] character publicly gets at post reports? Or better yet, why in the world is that person still a mod? Have they said they’ll enforce these rules?

I still don’t see much reason to accommodate CW in that way. Allowing him to continue to be a mod is a pretty significant privilege, imo. He left, if stuff gets posted that he wants taken down, he can message the mods and ask them to take it down. It seems like they have been pretty willing to address reasonable requests.

I don’t see why any former member who’s made it clear he’s never planning to post here again should continue to have moderator access. His fears about what current moderators will or won’t do to protect his own identity is irrelevant to the issue of letting ex-members retain mod powers.

Cuse should have be demodded immediately after the debacle involving the prior admin. Better late than never. The user name stuff has also gone too far but whatever, with it added to the profanity filter now there’s truly no point in retaining his modship.
