I would not leave where I am now (Tucson, AZ) to live anywhere in the Midwest barring some incredible opportunity which me or, more likely my wife, couldn’t turn down. Arizona deservedly gets a bad rap but this city is beautiful and quite liberal; It seems to be particularly friendly towards immigrants and refugees.

I’m good, if the fire is where I think it is, I’m about 2 miles away. My view from my balcony was blocked, so I climbed up on the roof (don’t tell the landlord!) and got a look and a picture.
If it’s where I think it is, it’s on Walnut Street, a block from Rittenhouse Square Park, which is like the epicenter of the really wealthy area west of Center City - one of the nicest parks in any major city on the East Coast IMO, but of course I’m biased. I get my hair cut in a building across the street from the fire…
I keep hearing loud booms, but I’m not sure what it is. Too deep of a pitch for fireworks, too intermittent and too long in duration to be gunfire. Plus I should be too far away from the action to hear it. So I have no idea.
