OK, incremental reform that is mostly just intended by the powers that be to appease most of the protesters so that they go back inside, but does still move us forward a little. Better?
A Biden Administration will likely take somewhat significant action on criminal justice and police reform, at least in my opinion. The left wing will trash it, the right will be apoplectic, and most will find it reasonable. It’ll make a big difference, but obviously the problem isn’t going to be completely fixed, and we’ll need to revisit it again.

What he says of Malaysia is effectively true of most of the west since the disintegration of the USSR and the acceptance of a single dominant political system where radical opponents are routinely destroyed with fear campaigns in the mass media.
The problem is that the system of democracy which served us well after WW2 when regeneration was the only game in town is broken and too easily gamed by shrewd and cynical politicians with their eyes only on a further term and on building bridges with large corporations to ensure a meaty and cushy job should they lose office.
The public are generally aware of this and naturally are cynical about political leaders being largely self serving.
In the meantime the economic success of China, by contrast, has shown everyone the benefits of a centrally planned economy and society. Throw Putins Russia into the mix as a feared autocratic leadership and you can see the attraction for politicians and some electorates.

Makes sense that this is the Right’s version of a hero. The kind of guy who needs to feel tough but can only do so by hitting girls and holding a gun bigger than him.
I think the Kyle stuff will come down to the first shooting. Is being chased reason enough to turn around and shoot someone in WI? I know it is in places like Florida, but from what I read WI has the castle defense where you can do it when you’re defending your home/business/property. None of that is going on here and you have a duty to retreat in WI. Can you claim self defense when you drive across state lines and have nothing of your own to protect?
It will be a complex case. The second two shootings though I think will be clear self defense even though Kyle is obviously an awful kid and the people were trying to be heros
Also I think the most recent shooting is an escalation to the first. If you were in Kenosha and you saw what just happened, good chance you’d consider arming yourself and be ready to shoot to kill any right wing militia looking guy who comes at you aggressively. The same is going to be true now for the Trump supporters who previously were never really worried about violence, they thought they had the monopoly on it and could kill with immunity.
It’s only going to escalate from here and its gonna be bad. Really bad.
Right wing derposphere already claiming that in the audio you can hear them say " we found a Trump supporter " and executed him because of that. They’re going with the narrative that they’re hunting them now, so the violence is going to increase a lot.
What should the local leaders do to prevent this turning into a bloodbath? Realistic options.
They will eventually call in the Guard. The streets will be militarized. Protesters will have their skulls cracked and be subjected to mass arrests. The militias will be treated with kid gloves and politely escorted out of town. Middle America will breathe a sigh of relief and reelect Trump.

4chan and twitter seem to have pretty conclusively misidentified the shooter and decided to run with it.
