I’m heading over to the UofChicago thing happening but I’m conflicted because I’ve almost thoroughly lost all desire to talk politics with people, especially random people, and I’m not really feeling any camaraderie. So there might be some awkwardness.
There are some very compelling strains of leftist thought that say one can’t be truly on the left while also being misanthropic and rejecting community but my response right now is essentially, “Ummm… Sorry? Hand me that molotov you want me to throw and plz stfu.”

I have a military-grade gas mask and ear-protection things so I’m thinking like, throwing tear gas and flashbangs back at the cops should it come to that.
I had to chastise an acquaintance over how he’s gullible and the extortion part doesn’t even make sense.
I’m interested in a food review.
LA local news had an antifa segment a couple days ago that I happened to flip past. It was super measured and mostly downplayed the whole conspiracy, and featured the boogaloo movement.
You absolutely have to break a few windows.

I don’t know why I’m shocked by anything Fox does but this seems like a new low even for them.

As we’ve been reporting, thousands of counter-protesters, including far right activists, have descended on central London in spite of police and government warnings to stay away amid the coronavirus pandemic.
A Black Lives Matter demonstration planned for today was brought forward over fears there would be clashes with far right groups, and organisers urged people not to stage anti-racism rallies this weekend.
However, people watching the events unfold are unsure about what the counter-protestors are trying to achieve. It has been pointed out that they claim to want to ‘defend’ symbols of British history, yet they are violently clashing with police officers who are there to, er, protect the monuments.
Then there is video footage which appears to show demonstrators ‘defending’ Churchill’s statue and the Cenotaph by performing Nazi salutes whilst chanting “Eng-er-land”. This, again, is very confusing.
