Poker News and Live Streams - Ivey wins 11th Bracelet

it’s fun to goof on him for his public profile of being so cheap, but gdamn he shouldn’t have to pay for anything at any property where he’s playing that high. get that the machine was in +EV mode at the time, but high roller slots has always felt like the ultimate in casino degeneracy.

It was +EV? I didn’t know slots could be +EV

If the increasing jackpot is high enough, it could be +EV mathematically.

I think he was buying $125 bonuses, so not quite the same as hitting a button every 3 seconds at $125 a pop. The bonuses can run pretty long on those machines.

Ah, that seems more Chainsaw-esque

The whole slots being +ev seems dubious to me in terms of anyone having the bankroll to fade the variance.

Its pretty easy on some bonus heavy machines.

What do you mean by easy? You dont have to spend a million on average to win the 1.2?

I mean that you arent winning a gigantic jackpot, but youre close to a bonus round that is +ev.

People leave machines all the time just before triggering a bonus. So you then play it until you trigger the 10+ free spins then leave. If youre in a casino you can likely spot multiple people checking these machines for this.

Oh ok that makes more sense.

There used to be a gambling syndicate in the Dutch casinos that would take over a bank of machines when the shared jackpot went above a certain value. It was guaranteed to hit when it reached 50k. Several incidents when people not part of the syndicate tried to keep their machine reserved.

That’s odd. I assumed the jackpot was totally random and every spin was independent of the last.

Some machines have jackpots that are guaranteed to hit by a certain amount, others are completely random.

There are a bunch of machines that a column or row is wild when you get x amount of symbols and its shown on screen. But you still get people leaving when they are 1 away all the time.

That’s the bonus not jackpot though right?

What does “refuses to play short-handed in WSOP events” mean?

If there’s 4 players left at a final table and he’s one of them, he sits out? Obviously that’s not what it means, but…

Refuses to start a table if it’s significantly shorter than other tables.

I didn’t know you were allowed to do this in a tournament? I thought you just sit where you’re told

Maybe I’m misunderestimating what “WSOP Event” can mean
