Oh interesting.

And the personality of the dealer is maybe the biggest attraction.

There’s clips on social media of crowd favorite dealers and stuff

I really think there is a market for tables where the dealers just talk constant smack.

Live dealer table games are all the rage for the online casinos. They have blackjack, roulette, baccarat, the stupid wheel, etc. That industry boomed during the pandemic I think.

Hmmm. I had no idea. I’ve never played a casino game online. Seems so insanely negative ev.

Well, yea…casino games by definition are negative ev. I think the casinos figured out that they could get more handle with live dealers than with video gaming. I’d assume the whales and rec fish of the degenerate gambling world prefer to see actual cards or an actual ball spinning around a wheel to take their money as opposed to just an animated graphic telling them they lost.

I guess I assumed it would be worse with no regulator controlling rules. I guess with casino games rules are set so edge is clear. The more bizarre thing is online slots. That is pure insanity. I assume they are set for a house edge no real world regulator would ever allow.

They are still regulated. It’s just regular physical blackjack with RFID chips in the cards. Computer reads them, online players bet, etc. Hybrid of live/online.

Appeals to lots of people because it feels more like being in a casino and they are more comfortable because they can see the cards rather than trusting an RNG.

The online casinos in states where its legal are regulated by the same gaming commission that brick and mortar casinos are regulated by. And they very clearly list the RTP% for each game. Here’s what you see for example when you click on a game:

Now granted a majority of people who play slots online probably have no clue what RTP means, but the regulated gaming market is at leaat making it clear and easy to find.

All that being said, I’ve made a not insignificant amount of money from online casinos thanks to promos. You can easily turn -ev games into very +ev games when the casinos are running promos to gain market share. The people that just spin slots every day online for the fun of it though…yea no clue how they aren’t all broke yet.

Fwiw when I was last in Cambodia, the Sihanoukville casinos used to have rows and rows of pretty smiling girls flipping cards looking up at cameras dealing in real time to Chinese clients, as they basically don’t trust anything purely electronic. It felt like an episode of Black Mirror seeing it in person. None of them talked shit though haha. But I’m guessing there would have been a market for that, some 20 year old Cambodian girl yelling in broken Chinese at clients about how much they suck at life losing at Baccarat or whatever at 4am lol.

I would have guessed online gambling was illegal in China, if forced to guess one way or the other

Yeah they did eventually crack down on this type of gambling, much to the chagrin of the Chinese run, Cambodian economy

Super random question…back when Parx first opened their poker room I remembered a website that showed their live game data in graph format. Like it was scraping Bravo and showing a report of what games were running at what hours and you could scroll through the historical data. Anybody know what site that was, if it was parx specific, or if there is somewhere to see that for any room using Bravo?

Eta: deep diving the 2p2 thread I think it was parx.phil.ly which seems dead now, and looks like it was a random guy who made a site that scraped bravo data. Any web savvy people know how difficult a task that would be for someone who knows web dev stuff?

Almost certainly in one of your Alberta casinos you have multiple dealers dealing games for Play Alberta.

Oh really. I’ve never tried play Alberta. Didn’t even know it had poker.

The poker wont have those kinds of dealers, just the roulette, BJ and baccarat

Played on a live stream in Australia today.

Got absolutely stitched up by the graphics team.

Move across to a table that has played ~1.5hrs already.

Fold first hand UTG.

End of hand brings up a graphic for player PFR and I am sitting on 0% vs everyone else being 23, 21, 19 etc…

Slayed in the group chats.
