Phil the Dragon Hellmuth with another deep run. He finished 19th out of ~2000 runners in the hof bounty tournament. now he’s in the last 30 with a decent stack in the 10k 6-max nlh.
But he’s a terrible poker player.
If it wasn’t for luck, he’d lose every time
Post of the thread.
Not enough dealers/tables, or do the people running the games let the bad players cut the line?
Yeah only 22 tables, constant shortage of dealers, huge lists on weekends, not enough people working the cage, you can’t buy chips at the table, there’s maybe one chip runner for the whole room, you can’t eat in the room etc. And the 1 hour+ lists filter out a lot of recreational players that just want to sit down quick and splash around. Tables have tons of regs.
I played at the Commerce last month and they literally open a table every time there’s 8 names on the list.
sounds awful
It’s annoying because there is such a demand for poker in the Chicago area, there’s just not enough supply. However they are building a new casino downtown, but who knows when it’ll actually get finished or if it will have a decent poker room.
It’s not bad enough to drive loads of people to other poker options in the Chicago area.
That’s because the other options are pretty awful
Not a fan of RCG?
I don’t mind RCG actually, but coming from the city it’s just a pain to get out there, and then they close at midnight. People from Chicago are used to having all crappy options because that’s all we’ve ever known. There’s so many better places in the US to play.
Hahaha definitely never seen that one. Selling the Commerce as a place for ladies night out is great
Totally nailed the vibe at Commerce. Definitely not 700 dead eyed dudes making no sound other than shuffling chips.
Which by the way is why I like Hollywood Park. On Thursday nights and the weekends they have a club that makes noise and there’s some life in the place. At least there was before Covid. I haven’t been back to see if it’s still going.
We can only hope that at some point some group of women got dressed up and went there. What I wouldn’t give for video of that.
There’s plenty of sound like the verbal abuse and physical violence against dealers.
That’s sporadic though. At any given moment you usually just hear shuffling chips. I guess no one wants music but man would it make the place a little less depressing.
I’ll probably only been to commerce a half dozen times. And every time I saw clear collusion going on in tourneys.
Yeah I haven’t been there in a decade, in part due to the non-policing of 100% blatant collusion. Also because I just hate playing with miserable scumbags and I hate dealer abuse.
One of my favorite places to play was at Planet Hollywood (Vegas). The tables were in the middle of the gaming floor, with noise, music and female staffers episodically dancing on the bars.
