This sentence gives Polk way too much credit. He’s not some neutral arbiter. He’s a totally self interested party and also a skilled communicator using that to enrich himself.
I’ve never been a big believer in Polk. The article I linked to does point out Polk’s ownership of Upswing, which competes with Solve for Why. Maybe I assumed that people could figure it out.

Polk is a douche but he is right about solve for why. Of all the training sites why on earth would anyone sub to them. They don’t have any great players, including Berkey.
At least Polk was actually the best HU player on earth for a while.
I have an upswing subscription and 90% of the content is produced by other coaches who are pretty good. I just want to be good enough to beat 200/500NL and it gets the job done there.
Berkey has a history of being a dick to anyone who criticizes him. I listen to the Poker Guys podcast, which is like 50% comedy 50% poker, and Berkey threw a bitch fit when they analyzed one of his hands and thought his play was questionable. They even acknowledged “maybe this is higher level than we can understand” but he’s still a douche. He has a history of making very strange plays that clearly aren’t solver approved, and I have no idea if he’s on some next level exploitative shit, but every time he makes some bizarre bluff choice or weird Q high hero call it tends to lose him a lot of money.
There are no good guys in this, but I think Polk is the bigger douche.

i listened to the whole thing (at 2x speed). nothing really interesting other than garrett repeatedly saying he actually made a lot more money in poker than airball said and basically how he was cut from HCL because him winning so much money it was hurting Ryan’s bottom line.
like not even a thought that his baseless reaction made it impossible for him to play on hcl and threatened their whole operation.
How does this even track? It seems like Ryan’s financial interest is dependent on the popularity of the stream, not the wins or losses of anyone at the table.
