If Dwan shoves river and Rui finds the call (which I think he would’ve) with 8-high, then I’d say this is the best hand ever. As is, it’s still one of the best.

Tend to believe that Rui would have called too but then not too sure that the river bet makes much sense if he was so confident in his read. What’s Tom folding for 1/3 psb (maybe less) if he was wrong? A really entertaining hand tho.
I think he has to be targeting 72 specifically with the turn float. He’s only leaving 239k left and pot is 655k once he calls, so if you put him on basically any other hand that could possibly be in Tom’s range, you have to either shove or fold turn. The river bet happened pretty quickly, so maybe he got caught up in the moment and didn’t think it thru too well, or wanted to fold out T9s, T8s type stuff if for some reason Tom has that.
Really though, I think Tom’s flop check-raise is the big blunder, and Rui picked up that that line doesn’t make a ton of sense.

The $3k → $80k bluff fold was really bad. Every 1/3 - 2/5 fish does that same play on a missed flush draw.

Ya I think only reason he folds is because people don’t bluff him as he is VPIP 100% and a calling station.
