Yeah what in the hell is happening in here

In this case it’d be not taking $10 million to give up on one of my dreams/passions (winning bracelets) while working my way to eventually having $10M.

Yeah, I’m playing a mix of 5/T, 5/T/20, and T/25 now. Some will be in private games. So apply whatever hourly you guys think is reasonable for an average of a $20 BB, say 30 hours a week, say 40 weeks a year (not counting the WSOP and a few weeks off spread around). And I will live off $50-60K, so I’ll either be able to move up fast if bigger games remain available, or put a lot away for a few years before my lifestyle gets more expensive.

In a discussion in the golf thread over guys taking huge bags of money and giving up the chance to win majors, I made a comment that I would turn down $10M to never get to play WSOP events again, but not $100M. Although if it came from blood money, I’d hope I’d have the morality to turn it down but who knows until you’re in that spot.

I also mentioned having the expectation to eventually get to a $10M net worth anyway.

This discussion ensued and was moved here.

Your work ethic and recent results have been very impressive. Keep at it I’m sure you’ll achieve big things and get a couple WSOP bracelets along the way.

Thank you! If things go well, I’ll get to start learning mixed games in early 2023, which is what would really open the door to having a shot at more bracelets. The chance to play fields with < 300 people in them with bracelets up top would be really cool for me. In NLHE even if your life braceletEV is in the 3-5 range, you could easily just get zero or one because of runbad when there are thousands of people in most fields. I have a buddy who plays mixed games at a high level who seems to get to 2-3 final tables almost every WSOP.

mix games are still so soft

really really wish one was spread online

Yeah me too. I asked my buddy who’s a beast at them how good I’d have to be to be +EV in the $1500’s at the WSOP in each game. He said if you can beat the game anywhere online or in your local casino, you’re +EV there. I said something like, “Beat what stakes?”

He said, “Any.”

Somehow, my ability to do ok in $400 and under mixed game tournaments has not translated into any cashes in (a small sample size of) $1500 WSOP events.

no, it’s true, the play in the $1500 had my jaw drop about once an orbit

everyone asked me why i chose the $1500 horse , it’s because I figured that was the only game where i had any edge, I seriously doubt you even need to study. like, reading super system might be enough even.

You’ve only played a handful of them, right?

Yes. I feel like I’ve been incredibly card dead, but being super-disciplined means no one who is paying attention wants to play bloated pots against me, even though I’m not waiting for premiums.

I feel like I don’t have the reps in a lot of these games to have good instincts about betting patterns, especially stud, but there’s a lot of obviously bad play going on.

As long as you can read your hand, if you are good at reading people for strength and weakness, you can have an edge on players who really just play their hand most of the times and turn into stations because of lol pot odds in limit.

Yeah im playing a small local HORSE in September. I figure just knowing how to play stud competently makes me +EV.

I played an O/8 about two months ago. About two orbits in, a guy who had folded a bunch tried to raise pot, when he was told he couldnt be said “Wait this isnt PLO?”

if you’re able to observe and remember all exposed cards every hand you have a massive edge. at my table in the wsop, i was one of only 3 players actually doing that. if you’re not doing that you’re pretty much dead money in my opinion, but it’s so fucking easy and common sense.

there’s situations in stud8 that are fairly interesting theory wise but if you understand the hi/lo concept it’s intuitive.

Double beat. Game wasnt that juicy and lost 2k. Not much for the game but still unfun

almost over but good lineup/watch

Was it here we were talking about guarantees?

This is what the fine print in the local $1M guarantee says

“Event #7 - 1A $2,500 RunGood Season Finale
$1,000,000 Guaranteed
(449 entries to meet Guarantee)”

So to reach the $1M guarantee, we need to hit $1,122,500 in buy ins. Even with fees, thats ridiculous.

Why is that ridiculous?
