Yep he added a couple times. Once to like 140ish I think. Won some and had about 250 at one point. No idea why he was short stacking. Rumours are he might not have had the money. No idea of true.
My issue with the way dwan played was that he completely ignored the endless amount of “tells” (sometimes literally the kids were telling the table what they had) and just played his cards as face up as theirs. It’s probably still +ev cause youd be hard pressed to find strategies that arent +ev except those of hellmuth and keating, but fairly disappointing.
Eh, this just isn’t true. I was playing a 2/5 game yesterday where one guy was in for 5 figures and 3 in for 5k+.
Taking every slightly +ev spot in that wild game would have been insane.
I don’t think anyone was really prepared for the game to be as big as it was.
That is probably true. Beast straddled for like 100bb on like the third hand. Lol. It was an insane game.
Not taking small ev spots in that game is because you are trying to maximize long term ev right.
Ya that was the oddest part. Everyone was a huge tell box and he and hellmuth just ignored it all for some reason. Beast is literally asking xqt if he is lucky and raising huge based on his answer and dwan and hellmuth are just acting like the raise is based in his hand value!
meh. maximizing ev is fairly empty concept. we don’t even know what that is in most cases. but between “maximizing ev” and not raising pf because it doesn’t fit your personality there are multiple oceans.
Agree mathematically we don’t know in many specific cases but as a general concept the point of poker is to maximize the amount of money you win over the long run. Purposely choosing to not do that seems odd.
It’s because they will get in like 4-5k dead in spots, so you don’t need to take 51% edges or even 60% really.
Like I got badly bluffed twice bc a dude was shoving 3k at 2/5 with 7/9 high. But they lost 10k I’m not bothered by being bluffed a few times
Exactly my point. +ev doesn’t mean on every hand. It means long term. Of course if you had an infinite bankroll and could fade any amount of variance you would take every 51% spot.
Was waiting all night for a spot vs the blaster who was $50-100 pf every hand. Flat 88 IP, q89q9 runout and they overshove river for 3k and its 10 AM been playing since 9 PM. Sigh.
the game wouldn’t have been that big if keating ran good at the first 15 minutes. most of them ‘only’ had 100k. stream might have been over within an hour if he ran good. i wouldn’t be surprised if feldman was pretty worried.
The only time I tilt ever is if I’m in a rarified game with a pure donator and get dealt bottom 20% of hands for a couple hours straight.
It’s like saying I have a solid playoff team and being fine with that even though people say I suck because they think sports is all about maximizing title equity. There isn’t a simple binary categorization of good and bad with nothing in-between. Try being a little more nuanced.
I don’t think I’d ever tilt in that spot. Sounds like you feel a sense of entitlement in that situation and get frustrated.
This is a good point. Although I wonder if beast might have served the same purpose. He was primed to lose a lot. His whole thing is giving away hundreds of thousands.
For sure the game doesn’t get so big is someone isn’t feeding it hugely.
Just got terrible runouts in spots where I decided I was basically calling down for ~200-600bb.
Had 7s, call down on A3856 vs 100/200/450 bets they have 56o.
JKs on J102A10 they bet 150/350/3k, have to fold.
Then the 88 hand.
Still win small, oh well.
Started as PLO and multiple players didn’t know how to play, stuff like bare Ad on 4 flush boards and not using it as a bluff, just calling etc.
Guy sat down in my 2/5/5 plo game last weekend bought in for 4K lol and on the third hand called off on river for like 700 with just the ace of the 4 card flush on board
It was a good night!
You still have casino games though, it all got legally shutdown in MB. A bunch here going for the upcoming WSOPC though.
