Polk comes across as a massive douchebro. Plus, I hate crypto. Maybe he plays it up for the camera, but I don’t like people who have his general fratboy vibe.
I think Polk is even more insufferable than Dnegs. He’s fine on poker, but the crypto/poker stuff is absolutely insufferable.
Decided to take a break from the drudgery of NLHE and spew around at some micro Omaha for a bit. Within 5 minutes I win a 700bb pot and donks are just shipping $$$ at me left and right. Am I playing the wrong game (NLHE)…

You hit the top 0.5% of flops and you’re 4 way, and your hand still doesn’t look good. You’re dead or close to it a decent amount of time. You’re going to lose a shit ton of money playing PLO jamming bottom set / drawing to non nut flushes.
Yeah, I fold that hand to a minraise in the bb frequently.

Read this. Then loosen up your range a bit for 6 max. But this is pretty much a fail proof way to wafflecrush 2/5 - 5/5 PLO live anywhere in the US. I wouldn’t complete from the sb with QT22.

Appreciate the feedback. Key words you are missing are “spew around”, my spew range for 10nl Omaha is roughly 90/70/10%. I find this is a good way to achieve optimal spew. I was more surprised that 4/5th of the table decided to join in on the fun.
edit: I actually know nothing about PLO though so may check out aforementioned book
How do you feel about his volume 2 and 3? I haven’t pored over them as much because I am not a LAG and don’t play as much short-handed.

Well I’ve played 10/25 live professionally for ~ a decade and @NotBruceZ plays similar live as well. FWIW

I own vol 2 but haven’t spent a lot of time with it. My game is 9 handed and deep, so I’m not splashing around much. The last few months 4 tabling 2/5 6 max on Ignition is my most extensive experience with short handed play.
My experience playing short-handed live involves everyone but me playing 75% of hands and almost no 3-betting pre without AAxx. I play at smaller stakes than you, so I assume you have more experience with pots that go heads up to the flop.

My hand above was just spew, sometimes I move down to the micros to give back to the community. I was half-seriously remarking on whether I have picked the wrong game to get ‘good’ at, vs. making the cut to PLO.
