Poker Hands and Strategy

At some point, the WSOP rule was that a (nonverbal) bet isn’t binding until chips are released and a forward motion with chips only commits the bettor to a call, but I’m not familiar with the history of the rule and I suppose it depends on when this happened.

ok, saying that’s true…where’d this floor come up with a min raise? lol

Anyone in here have experience using pokersnowie? Worth the $ to patch up some cash leaks?

Former 200nl stars reg here dabbling in some cash online for the first time since 2011. I feel like Brooks in the Shawshank Redemption when he gets released from prison. Except instead of motor vehicles it’s the preflop aggression, weird ass 1/4 pot or overpot cbets, and all around soul-ownage of the regs out there.

No idea. Also, if a guy is committed to a min-raise, it’s 105, not 130.

I hate the forward motion rule because it can be ambiguous.

There is genuinely much less pf aggression than there used to be. The main adjustments most regs have is sizing down otf so you can bet a wider range and more polarized large river bets.

Welp, next poker scandal is 2010 Main Event champ Jonathan Duhamel being accused of rape.

Will we eventually need separate poker news and poker strat threads?

I made quads recently spiking a 1 outer in a set under set flopped situation (ai OTF)

Felt good.

Felt really good man.

I’ve been playing on Ignition and it’s bad beats and coolers one after the other. I’ve never seen so may double paired and double suited boards in my life. I took 4th in a $5+$0.50 $5K guaranteed and have a couple of top 20 finishes in the $15+$1.50 $26,888 guaranteed tourneys with 1500 entrants, but I’m seeing patterns that show up again and again that make me think it’s rigged. Q6 sooted always rivers a 6 when I have AQo and we’re all-in preflop. I’ve also noticed that my combo draws never fucking get there and I always lose to hands I have dominated. I don’t pick out patterns like this when I play live and I am able to predict turns and rivers with unreasonable accuracy. I’ll keep playing, but no way I continue online once live poker gets going again.

What are good “soild” sites to play on now from the US, if any? Was a $20-$100 tourney and sng winner on stars back in the day. Know nothing of the current environment. Would perfer a site with no blackjack or other tomfoolery.

My pro friends say the ACR series coming up will be the best thing this summer with no wsop

ACR - Biggest tourneys, most volume, rakeback, by far the toughest fields, longest structures (5hr late reg in their big tourneys)

Bovada/Ignition - Anonymous tables, a few big tourneys with insanely bad players, structures are garbage late

BetOnline - Smaller fields and volume, a couple good tourneys on Sunday

Global - I haven’t played here in a while because they banned my state. Smaller fields and low volume, higher rake, terrible players and fast structures. It’s the only site you don’t need to use BTC for. SNGs were amazing at one point, but the rake was way too high.

If you are in NJ/NV/DE/PA there are regulated options.

Basically everywhere is gonna have dumb casino games, you can ban yourself from casino or use your willpower.

Is anyone here playing on Ignition? I’ve been in the middle stages of tournies in the top 10 and their software boots me out and it takes 10 minutes to get back on, then it happens again and again and I wind up with a min cash or bubbling. I played the $15+$1.50 $2K tonight and was constantly having to close the client and log back in, losing 1/4 of my stack each time. Managed to take 8th for peanuts and sent them a message saying this is the 4th time I’ve been running deep or on my way there and their software crashed. Asked for whatever prize money I managed to win plus my buy-in back. I’ll let you know when they freeze my account and confiscate the balance. Probably a bad sign that the Ignition thread over at 2+2 is always on top when I check it.

Yeah I mean at least in the South most of those statues went up sometime between the 20s and 60s - and were 100% to send a message to uppity blacks about who was really in charge.

This AOC is dumb narrative seems to be really seductive to the right. A junior congresswoman mispoke one time = IDIOT!

I play Ignition a lot and it probably crashes for me once a month, plus a couple more times where I and 50+% of the other players DC/can’t reconnect and a couple more where the site just dies for everyone. They are constantly messing with their software so occasionally it gets really bad for a week, but things have been fine for me lately.

They are usually good about giving a refund for tournies/SNGs where you DC and never reconnect and it is clearly their fault, but if you play a hand when you come back with 1BB, you’ll probably get shit.

They aren’t going to steal your money and you have to be a MAJOR pain in the ass before they will close your account for complaining.

If you are having repeated crashing issues late in a tourney, try connecting to the web-based client. Also, turn off “Show All-in Percentage” under Game Play Settings, that occasionally breaks the client for some unknown reason.
