We’re you just playing a (big) 2/5 game where you got crushed? Even with how juicy those games are I’d have trouble going beyond 4k I think.
5/5/10
Yea, that’s usually how the biggest losses happen. If the game is really one of those insane crazy games and I’m stuck, I acknowledge at some point I’m not leaving until the game dies or all the money in my pocket is gone.
It’s crazy where Clovis is because of the WSOPC. MY thing for series is not to get absolutely crushed at the beginning, especially if it’s a week or two series. Sometimes the games are best at the beginning, sometimes the end, it can be hard to judge.
Well if you can leave a game like that being stuck only 4k, that’s some discipline, although yea I get it, you don’t wanna blow the whole series roll at once. Personally I’d say fuck the the series, reload at the bank the next day(s) and if I lose all that then its time to get drunk, maybe fly home early and go hiking in the mountains for the next week lol.
It is funny how poker works sometimes, your biggest losses are always in the best games.
NL5 Zone on Bovada 100bb
Btn raises 3x
I 3bet in sb with AKo no hearts, he calls
Flop Ah 5h 2c
I bet half pot, he calls
Turn 3d
How do you play from here? Bet/fold? check/call half pot bet? and if check/calling how do you deal with river blank and an allin?
I’m thinking bet/fold is ok but then again i’m not sure i’m ever going 3 streets of value here so not sure that makes sense?
I’m not worried about the straight. I think you can get three streets, but I like stack-a-donk (check raise all in) a lot at this level.
I’m guessing the GTO approved way to play it is some combo of betting or checkcalling both streets without ever folding anywhere. I really think people severely under bluff in this situation if we retain the betting lead though, so my preferred line is to make a blockingish 30%-40% bet on both streets and fold to a shove. CRAI or full potting for value might be fine at these exact stakes but I’m a bit wary since it’s bad just a level or two higher.
A tournament razz hand.
Full table, just ignoring the big cards. Table is straight-forward.
A face card to my right brings in. I limp with (42)7. 7 completes. 6 calls. Ace folds. Another ace two bets. I fold.
I think open-limping is right there and I think folding to two bets is reasonable given the cards that are out. The ace and seven always have two cards in the hole 6 or lower. Change the ace that folded to a 4 or 2 and I call and possibly would have open-raised. Same for if I had the 7 in the hole instead of my door card. I think I would have open-folded (42)8.
Hilariously, all three players caught ten or higher on the next three streets.
Tournament O8.
V1 raises. V2 calls. I defend BB with T54A and Th4h.
Flop is T42 with 2 diamonds. I check because V1 c-bets too much and is very check-raise-able. However, V1 checks. V2 bets. I c/r. Call. Call.
Turn is an off-suit 8. I bet. Call. Call.
River is an off-suit 7. I decide to check. V1 now bets. V2 calls. I call.
I don’t think your low should be good, but your high might be.
Then again, whenever I read O8 hands, I forget to factor in the ~66% chance that everyone else is hopelessly clicking buttons and shows up with nonsensical, irrational stuff devoid of logic or a thought process.
Played my local $200 mtt got five handed with 50% of the chips in play and promptly went out 5th.
I may need to brush up on my icm.
V1 had lol JJ98. V2 had JJA5. I get quartered when I should have quartered V2.
I opened AQcc to 25 over some limpers, sb calls and two others.
Flop 422ccx checked to me i bet 50 sb c/r to 95. In my casino if its an illegal raise its a call.
Turn Tx he checks. I’m like okay maybe he was angling for a cheap showdown or has some kind of draw or just a ‘see where i am’ bet with a small overpair.
I bet 100. He check raises to 200 :(
Very embarrassing hand. We did not hit the river.
Did they mean to raise more and just messed up the chips? Were they angling on purpose?
I imagine it was an accident, but i always treat it as a decent chance of an angle.,
Fold is probably smart and disciplined but I’d basically never do it in the moment.
Hate when it happens in Vegas or somewhere that you can’t really bank the info for later.
In most places, the standard rule is that more than half the bet commits you to a min-raise.
Which is why i specified my casino does not follow the standard rule.
