Poker Hands and Strategy

Super deep PLO can be a variance nightmare. If you’re comfortable gambling it up on small edges, go for it. In games like you’re describing, I’m more likely to play very well correlated hands that can make huge multi-way hands post flop.

I’m repping a straight, but I also would play a set this way.

My live read was that his turn bet was cautious. Like he felt he was supposed to bet, but he wasn’t in love with betting and was going to hate getting called.

Anyways, he tank-called. Like tanked long enough for someone to call the clock. The river bricked and I end up winning vs 6 :spades: 4 :spades: .

If they’re giving it away, I just never raise preflop unless I’m getting it in or squeezing people so there is dead money. You don’t need to build the pot preflop because they’ll do it for you post-flop. You have massive implied odds with every hand you play.

You mainly want to play your weak AAxx hands for set value since it’s hard to navigate post-flop if you miss. When you bloat the pot with these hands, you create more fold equity for your opponents to have against you; you’re not going to come close to realizing your equity.

My home games are on pause bc everyone is there

I just thought of a nlhe variant that I might try at my next home game, but wanted to run it by you guys for input, advice, and to see if you’ve heard of anything like it.

Standard nlhe except you’re dealt 5 hole cards. After flop betting but before turn is dealt, all players must surrender 2 hole cards. After turn betting but before river is dealt, all players must surrender 1 card. Rest plays normally.

I think that might throw enough monkey wrenches in the works to make it pretty interesting. Might be fun working out good strategies.

Edit: Maybe 4 cards preflop works better, with 1 discard on flop and turn.

Sounds likes like lazy pineapple with an extra card.

There are no discards in lazy pineapple. Regular pineapple has a discard before the flop. Crazy pineapple has the discard after the flop.

This is the classic Crazy Pineapple for Advanced Players satire by Jerrod Ankenman. It’s funnier if you’ve read 2+2 books.

Yikes. Raise a lot more pre if you know a fish will call, then ldo raise the 20% pot donk. River is a super clear check back. I am now convinced you’re just trolling to get a rise out of Clovis or something. This is too stupid to be credible.

Are you guys just now realizing these HHs are a level?

I checked back the river. I just assume Clovis trolling me.

Just had my biggest losing session ever is what was almost certainly the best plo game I’ve ever played and it might contest for best ever assembled. Five people were literally playing the equivalent of slots as high as they could. It was like the recent hustler Holdem game with the streamers.

I may have quintupled my lifetime Galfond bucks in this one session.

Variance is a real bitch!

I could just text them, but anyone from these neck of the woods in that game?

Not today but yesterday I played with an older guy who said he was from Winnipeg. I forget his name.

Last weekend a guy ran $500 to $62k in the 10/20 plo game!

Hi welcome to live plo

Indeed.

Yeah I dont think anyone who went in “good” at PLO, Mostly older fish or nut peddling middle aged guys, which is good enough to do quite well in those games.

there was a rare 5-5-10-(25) plo double board game in my local casino. I didnt play it or anything, but they hit the bad beat jackpot late at night. It’s a set 10k jackpot that goes i think 40% to the loser, 20% to the winner, 40% to the table or whatever.

It was a fairly big game and the table share was like 1k per person but they ended up waiting over 3 hours to get all the forms and shit. It started with loud cheers and ended with 6 very tired and annoyed people just sitting at the table staring at the wall (the game broke immediately after the hand).

I’ve been playing love poker for more than 20 years. I don’t know how many thousands of hours and almost every hand was bad beat eligible. I’ve never even been in a casino when it went let alone taken one dollar! I must be lifetime down several grand!

at least it’s canadian money so you’re basically breakeven.
