Poker Hands and Strategy

The plo game I played in Texas today is 500bb (or 200 since it’s 1-2 5 bring in) up to match biggest stack. One guy started the must move with 7K.

8 handed game 2/5.

Effective stack is 1400. I’ve been 3 betting MP1 all day. CO is a live pro.

MP1 raises to 15
CO calls
SB (hero) 99 calls

I would 3 bet this sometimes but just decided to call since.

Flop 9 7 2 rainbow.
Hero checks
MP bets 40
CO calls 40
Hero raises to 150

Am I burning money by raising on this dry on a flop? I would have called with heads up but figured one of the 2 had to have something reasonable and I wanted to juice the pot.

Nah no way. Would check raise in situation described 10/10 times. They’re not folding over pairs or better eve to the cr, plus shenanigans are thought to be in play.

Raising seems fine here. If you call and the turn checks through that’s basically a catastrophe, plus there’s a couple of draws you can charge here especially assuming they never fold gutshots, which lol live players of course they aren’t. And of course if they have overpairs they’re never folding, you block the 9s really hard but if they have the case one they’re probably never folding that either, and if they’re really stubborn they might call a 7 or a 2 if they have one.

This is the right play. Slow playing is almost always the wrong play at this level.

Does MP cbet too much? What’s the probability that they bet turn if you call? Is CO calling light?

I’d probably just call if MP auto-bets two overs and otherwise check-raise.

Hmm… stay at this 1/3 table where everyone is letting me run over them or go to the 2/5 with 4 grinders. Yeah I’m good.

The 5/10 PLO has about $50k on it and I’m fairly certain there is like 1 player that knows the rules. It started running at 11 am according to bravo.

Indianapolis?

Yeah. Dealer said last weekend it was the busiest card room in the states. I’m skeptical but who knows.

20 table card room = busiest in the states? Negative. Looks nice though! Doubt I ever make it up that way.

So the % listed is how much you are allowed to match the biggest stack. That or 200 bb for 2/5 games.

1/3 NL is 100bb period. ETA : I see on atlas it now shows 75% stack match. Probably smart. Longevity seems pretty questionable.

Why is this the only casino / poker room in Arkansas? New legislation?

Pro tip: if you’re driving down I35 to play at TCH Dallas, use the restrooms at Bucees. The owner may have abhorrent politics, but the potties are much nicer.

Cherokee nation is poised to build one in Russellville but they are being stymied by frivolous legal challenges.

Bomb pots are stupid. Also, the only pot I’ve won today is a bomb pot.

There’s literally a PLO table that is a $15 per person bomb pot every hand. Fucking lol

This is why bomb pots are stupid.

TT82 badugi.
Board one is 6TK rainbow.
Board two is QJ2cc.
Checks to button. He bets 135 (covers). We flat with 1.5K. 3 other callers (lol).

Turn is 2 on top and off suit 4 on bottom. Checks to button and he pots for 800.

Results:

We tank fold. Shorty calls with naked NFD. Everyone else folds. River on top is A. Off suit 9 on button. Button had KKxx

Live 1/3

First orbit at the table.

Young Asian male straddles. Four callers. I call in BB with 55.

Straddler makes it 26 with 160 behind. One fold. Loose passive old Asian male calls with about 100 behind. Two Caucasian OMCs call with AK and TT in their range and about 100bb effective.

Action is on me

I should…

  • Call
  • Fold
